2005 Winter Conditioning (official thread)

What I like it Ginn and Holmes together on punt return and kick return. Oh the possibilities!

Last year the opposition kicked off almost exclusively to Hall and away from Holmes. This year with Ginn back there, they'll be forced to either kick to Holmes or kick it out of bounds. I'll go out on a limb here and say that we'll start a butt-load of drives with great field position.

Is there any chance that Holmes gets replaced on either punt and kick returns to have O'neil do it?

Are you shittin' me?

The pre-spring depth chart answers a lot of the burning questions going into this season and as predicted by myself and many others, Donte Whitner will get the first crack at replacing Dustin Fox.

Uh, let's wait until Jamario gets his chance this fall practice...might push Whitner back to safety.

To me the burning question was how seriously the coaches were considering Ginn replacing Fox. Thankfully, that's not the case. I'd love to see Jamario get the job done. That's what I meant by Whitner getting first crack at it... anything but jeopardizing what we've got on offense with Ginn.

alot of interesting things there:

- Terry ahead of Kerr, maybe Kerr really isn't cut out for OSU?
- Patterson at DE, hmmm, i never thought he was quick enough for DE, but he needs to be on the field one way or another IMO
- Sirjo is certainly interesting
- The RS freshmen OL look like they have their work cut out, unless it's just standard to put the upperclassmen ahead
- RJ Coleman, man, a 4-star player, he was the #3 TE coming out of HS and the #1 player in WV, and he's 4th on our depth chart, he really sounded like a player coming in
- Frost is MIA, and what about Arden, does he have a chance to factor in at DE? IIRC correctly he was the #1 player in Ohio his Sr. year and top 50-60 nationally

I wish I was; I agree pretty out there thought upon second review. But from all accounts JO could be just as good at the position and it'd get him on the field a bit more.

Jamo will be a player, no doubt. But even thinking about him replacing someone like Holmes in beyond consideration to me.

Holms and Ginn on Punt and Kickoff returns gives us the best 1&2 punch in college football. Ginn will be 1st team AA and Holms will probably be all-conference ST performers. Ginn has a chance to destroy OSU records and maybe NCAA records on ST. Holms is a threat anytime he touches the ball.

O'neal will definately be considered on ST next year. Holms will probably leave so JO will be able to shine next year. It's not a knock on JO it's a compliment to the two studs we already have returning the ball. I would not be suprised if JO got some touches on returns in games we have in hand.

Anyone know anything about Curt Lukens? I thought it was a great idea when I heard in the offseason that the plan was to move him to safety, and I thought he might get a chance to play this year (at least as a 2nd teamer) with Whitner moving to CB.

And let's all keep this in perspective that this is pre-spring depth chart.. so more than likely this chart will change.

True, but it's the only depth chart we have right now!!!

I guess we could talk about Indians/Reds/Clippers spring training. How about that split squad game last night? Man, what a yawner.
