2005 Winter Conditioning (official thread)

They'll have to update the "Big Speed" 40 times with Hawk's 4.5 and Carpenter's 4.53 times they recently ran. Also interesting to note how Cie Grant's time dropped from 4.35 in 1999 to 4.5 in 2002 due to his bulking up...still damn fast for a LB, though. And after watching Pitcock chase Hart in The Game and run down the fake FG try in the Alamo Bowl, I'm sure he's a lot faster than his 4.91 time on that chart.

Thing that always shocked me is that Will Smith isn't on the 40 times for Power?!?!
Didn't Smith run around a 4.6 at the combine or pro day after dropping down in the 260 range? That time wouldn't be up there, though, because his eligibility would have expired and it wasn't an official team workout. He was still damn fast though.

That's b/c Kickers and Punters are grouped with LB's and TE's in running drills!

andy groom counts as big speed?

4.51 is a pretty good time for a punter
It was like that when I was there and even in Green Bay when we did conditioning drills and tests. Kind of scary to see LB's that big running times like that!

Its mistakenly in a recruiting thread but....B Childress squatting 540 is just insane. He was listed as weighing 185, so call it 180 and thats exactly 3 times his body weight. :yow1:

want something impressive? how about MoC squating 710 and only weighing 230! thats over 3 times his body weight. and then he's benching 410 to add to it. too bad he's slightly slower than Oprah Winfrey but i didnt realize how strong he was.

also, joey galloway running a 4.25 forty time while squating 535 and benching 400 just proves how much of an athlete he is.

Thanks for starting the thread, Bucknut11!!! Now that I figured out this greenie thing, I'm going to send some your way. By the way, what's the point of sending green to someone who already has the max? Is there any (other than letting him/her know you think the post ruled)?

As far as the numbers go, here's some of my thoughts:

1. Parker must be a monster! He made the Bench and Squat lists.
2. Groom??? Then again, we already mentioned this.
3. Kudla has put up a 555 lb. bench since this picture. That's just plain silly.
4. As pointed out in the recruiting thread, Justin Boren would already make the squat top 5. DAMN!
5. This obviously goes back to 1990 or so. However, look at how ALL TOP 10 LISTS IN ALL CATEGORIES are dominated by JT years! That speaks volumes for the S&C program he has instituted.

Thanks again Bucknut11.

Notice all the other squat records? MoC posted the top weight, period. He's the only guy on the board to put up 700.

IIRC, the world record is 1,075 lbs set buy a guy who weighs about 330.

Pro power lifter say 330lbs; 1,075/330= 3.26 times his body weight
MoC say at 230 lbs; 710/230= 3.09 times his body weight

All other stuff aside that is/was damn impressive for a teenager.

And after watching Pitcock chase Hart in The Game
dude, call me crazy, but i could have SWORN David Baas outran Pitcock on that play...........i re-watched it a number of times and had always heard about Pitcock's speed, and thought it was odd that he was being outrun by David Baas, maybe i'm wrong on this one?? anyone else???

Thing that always shocked me is that Will Smith isn't on the 40 times for Power?!?!
he's listed under Big Speed for his Bench Press, god only knows why, but i assume that's why his 40 isn't up there because he didn't run better than a 4.59

CATEGORIES are dominated by JT years! That speaks volumes for the S&C program he has instituted.
that is interesting, the credit would go to Al Johnson, also notice the 40 times how the times of the speed guys are mostly in the 90's, but all the big guys are recent years for the most part, goes to show how scary fast these guys are getting and how the game has changed

Also interesting to note how Cie Grant's time dropped from 4.35 in 1999 to 4.5 in 2002 due to his bulking up...still damn fast for a LB, though
sounds a helluva lot like Freddie Lenix and Thad Gibson, they both apparently run legit 4.35

--------------------------------------

also, looks like Lydell and Maurice Hall spent TOO MUCH time in the weightroom, and why couldn't either of them still break tackles???

--------------------------------------

i think one of the most impressive things on that list is Caldwell's 4.46 forty time, isn't he like 250+??? man how did this guy not make his way onto the field??? what an athlete

Right-click and save this clip and check for yourself. Bass was already at full speed when Pitcock gave chase at an angle. Pitcock made up about a half yard of sideline distance over about a 20 yard span despite having to run further because of that angle.
