2005 All-American Bowl (mega-merge)

again....when i went to bed last night....and after hh posted his thoughts on mccoy.....everyone thought mccoy was headed to columbus....

something happened late last night and its not hh's fault that he didn't have a roll-away bed parked in mccoys room last night....

Then don't pay attention to it...HH for me is someone who is proven to be closer than 99% of us. I have no reason to doubt him. When he misses, the staff misses. However, I will always appreciate the effort.

All I know is that there is a whole other site bashing the daylights out of HH but its not going to happen over here. I'm not saying you are TB because your assessment actually has some thought in it and is a nursery rhyme compared to some of the hate "over there."
Which is exactly the reason why I will only go there for the front page from now on. The recruiting board over there will not be one used/viewed by me.

Any way we could ask HH to only post over here? His access and information is not welcomed over there anymore, but it is over here.

I highly doubt that the staff is not more knoweledge of the situation than HH.

If he knew everything they did he wouldn't be continually surprised when the staff isn't as excited about HIS prize recruits as he is.
Nobody said they weren't...however, on certain situations with certain players, HH is right in the mix.

I highly doubt, no in fact, I will guarantee you don't know the situation with HH.

Again, I will remind you guys, there is another site having a HH bashfest...we will not do it here.

The Tennessee "gurus" sure as heck didn't think so. They've been calling McCoy a UT lock for a while now.

Go away.

Everyone, outside of UT, was calling McCoy to tOSU, hell lemmonhead had him to OSU as of this morning.
You going to tell me Lemming doesnt have a good idea as to where these kids are going?

Army All-American game - Players

Wanted to share a few thoughts on players in the game. I'd like this thread to be about the players only, not a play-by-play breakdown, and not become yet another thread on recruiting rants about which school got who and who went elsewhere.

STUDS (guys who looked like real ballers):

DeSean Jackson (WR) -- possibly USC-bound
Wow! Was this guy explosive or what? Yeah he made the bonehead 4 1/2 yard somersault that didn't result in a touchdown, but he was phenomenal all day. He was leaving the vaunted East DB's in the dust and looked like the most explosive player out there. Even more impressive considering he has less than ideal size at 5'11" 170#. Whoever gets him will be getting a good one. He reminded me a lot of USC's current undersized WR stud, Steve Smith.

Rico McCoy (LB) -- Tennessee
Painful to watch him commit to Tennessee and Fulmer, but he was everywhere today. He had some good hits, and he consistently ate up ground in open space. Would have been a great fit for the Silver Bullets, and will be missed. We've got some good LB's coming in, but none of them are McCoy's caliber right now.

Mark Sanchez (QB) -- USC
Another USC commit who would have looked great in Scarlet and Gray. This guy throws a great ball and easily looked like the best QB out there. Looked better suited to run an offense than a lot of current college QB's. Great pickup for USC to run their offense after Leinart leaves.

Alex Boone (OT) -- Ohio State
Alex looks like a man among boys, even at an all-star game. It was quite easy to identify #61 anywhere on the field...you just had to look for a mobile mountain. I think he came close to getting beat on one play, but that was it...anyone lined up across from him (Ryan Bain I believe...see below) didn't so much as create a whimper.

Jamario O'Neal (CB) -- Ohio State
Jamario looked like the real deal, even though didn't have any eye-popping INT's returned for TD's. He was one of the few East DB's that didn't get torched and he showed some speed and the ability to lay down some wood! (ask Jonathan Stewart).

Melvin Alaeze (DE) -- Maryland
Explosive first step to go with great size and power. He is exactly what our defense is missing (and is hopefully getting with Worthington). Great pickup for the Terps.

Marlon Lucky (RB) -- Nebraska
Showed some shiftiness and a great burst...how did USC ever let him get away? (Unless he doesn't qualify, in which case it won't matter).

Fred Rouse (WR) -- Texas or Florida State
His QB's didn't do him any favors, but the few times he touched the ball he showed why he deserves all the hype...made some great moves and showed some burst to go with his ideal size.

DUDS (guys who were hyped up but didn't look like they deserved it):

East QB's (Paulus, Crompton, Christensen)
They each made 1-2 nice plays but overall they all pretty much stunk...overthrowing receivers, missing open guys, and making bad decisions. They were the reason the East got whooped, which is even more shocking considering they had Rouse, Boateng, and Turner as stud WR's to throw to.

Adam Myers-White (S) -- Tennessee
Wow did he get lit up like a Christmas tree or what?!? The one TD where he was trying to cover 2 WR's wasn't his fault, but play after play it seemed like he was getting burned, bad. Give our coaches credit for seeing this one. He may turn out to be great, given his size and speed, but right now he's not.

Ryan Bain (DT) -- Iowa
He had no business being in this game, and it showed. A true bonehead pick by another bonehead...the Illinois-Lemonhead, Tom Lemming.

Dan Doering (OT) -- Iowa
Another Lemonhead pick...Doering might turn out to be great with some coaching from Ferentz, but he repeatedly got beat today and was turned around like a turnstile. Some of this could be because he's more used to playing LT instead of LG (like he did today), but wow...he's supposed to be a top-3 OL.

Trey Stross (WR) -- Iowa
This guy started the game for the East. Why? I'm not sure his name was even called.

Other East DB's (Morley, King, Ray-Garvin, etc.)
Morley epitomizes this group...lots of yap and great practice sessions throughout the week, but nothing more than a whimper from the great "3-0-5" (Miami area code that he kept shouting out) during the game. Myers-White is part of this group, but his follies deserved his own paragraph (see above).

FLASHES (guys who showed glimpses of their potential, but weren't consistently dominant):

Rey Maualaga (LB) -- USC
Had a nose for the ball.

David Gettis (WR) -- Baylor
Good size, speed, and hands.

Ryan Perrilloux (QB) -- Texas or LSU
Made some good throws, caught a TD too, but showed he wasn't as ready as Sanchez.

Jonathan Stewart (RB) -- possibly Washington bound
He showed great speed to go along with that tank of a body, but he had a fumble (his official introduction to Jamario) and didn't do enough to warrant stud status. Still, looks like he could become a workhorse at RB. Maybe with Willingham at Washington, he could help take down USC?

The rest of the field didn't show enough to warrant an opinion either way. It'll be interesting to see how their college careers shake out in the coming years.

Other thoughts:
One other thing did stand out...there were no Teddy Ginn's or Adrian Peterson's in today's game. Both those guys jump out on film, and on the field. I think last year's game spoiled us (and was a great indicator of how good they were in college this year) -- they are both truly once-in-a-generation talents. On pure speed and moves, I have never seen any high-school player like our own TG! Enjoy him for the next 2-3 years!

Is anyone arguing that point?

I highly doubt, no in fact, I will guarantee you don't know the situation with HH.
Guarantee anything you want, it is irrelevant.

There is absolutely no one bashing him at all. There just happens to be a middle ground between bashing him and riding his jock that seems to be lost on some.

LOL The problem is that you aren't on the side of that argument you believe you are.

Of course if you want to believe that last minute shenanigans are the "reasoned" opinion, feel free to do so.

muck....do you remember that on wednsday the knoxville radio station reported mccoy to ohio state....

something happened late....
I remember Jamie Newberg & Chris Pool saying they felt he was going to Tennesse.

I also remember a certain Ohio radio station reporting someone else to Ohio State a year ago.

Sorry Alan but you guys were just wrong on this one..

Hmmm how so. I seem to see you as a BN guy who brought your HH thoughts over here and realized they aren't going to be entertained.

The reason lies in the fact that there has been a good bit of discussion going on in PMs for months that many people are not shown for this exact reason...not everyone can handle the possibility of change.

Recruiting is simply choosing your poison: Stay ignorant to the rampant and changing rumors and therefore hope for the best or get every tidbit you can and take a chance with disappointment.

Just my opinion...but HH is golden over here and we will not throw stones at a guy who contributes so much to this site.

Guarantee anything you want, it is irrelevant.
Not irrelevent at all...just comical to see you argue points you are 100% ignorant on and in the dark
