2005 All-American Bowl (mega-merge)

I think Jim Barnes (West QB) and Jaosn Gwaltney (East RB) at least deserve to be in the Flashes category. I wasn't thinking much of Barnes coming in, but he had some good numbers plus a TD pass today. Gwaltney showed off a punishing stiffarm and good pass protection. He has a few good runs (when the East decided to runt he ball). Too bad Maurice didn;t get in more. For some reason he played very little. But Barnes and Gwaltney at least deserve some props.

Saying people are wrong because McCoy chooses Tennecheat isn't the way to look at it. People have their opinions and sources. However, kids will be kids. Recruits get into the limelight and want to take advantage of it by causing drama for those waiting in anticipation on who the recruits will choose. They play the games to draw attention.
Thankfully, we got kids who commited early. Some don't pay attention to these great kids because they don't put themselves in the limelight. They just want to be Buckeyes and are proud of it. Kids getting in the limelight will be the only chance they have for awhile unless they are exceptional talent.
Kids making TV announcements, the recruiting gurus and the internet didn't happen years ago before the current recruiting frenzy started. This frenzy pumps up the kids egos. Nevertheless, these kids have not played one down of a college game. When these kids end up on the scout team or third on the roster, then reality sets in for them. They realize they have become little fish in a big pond and have to work their butts off to see the field.
HH was giving his input based upon what he knew at the time . We would have done the same thing IMO if we were in his position. He was trying to be helpful to give us some information we cry out for. Unfortunately, we blame him and others when a recruit chooses a school other than the Buckeyes. This is the price to pay when recruits play the recruiting game in the limelight and fooling people is part of the game. Don't blame HH for not calling the right school a recruit announces. If you want to blame someone, blame what the recruiting games have become.

Again, I will remind you guys, there is another site having a HH bashfest...we will not do it here.
And an amen to that!!! Bashing someone like HH or anyone trying to provide good honest information online is just silly. HH only provides educated information based on his relations to these athletes. That information is solely based on what the kids chose to reveal to HH. This is as good as it gets for anyone on any site out there. It's even more silly to expect 100% accuracy in any "predictions".

The cameraman comment is kinda out there though TB, don't you think? His information is far more than most will ever get. Appreciate it or just ignore it but belittling any info he provides is kind of short-sighted. If OSU fans did not have HH's "inside info", we'd be far more in the dark with any of these prospects all together.

He went to Tenn., forget it.

Anyone that fuloly believes any recruiting expert is just setting themself up for a fall. Experts can only report what they hear. If guys don't want to come here, fine, move on to the players that want to play here.

There's not one player that played in the game today that I would take over Alex Boone, not one !

I saw Boone get beat a couple of plays by #88, not sure what lineman that was. I also saw him give up on a couple of plays where he didnt realize the QB was scrambling towards his side. Overall though, i thought he played a good game.

I agree, Brutus. Folks need to keep their heads on straight. All year we've prayed we'd get a slippery-fast back and we did. Wells is a gem. We beat out USC for him.

And we also got a dominating O-lineman who plays with a vengence. Boone will be an All-American within two years.

Let's not get hysterical over losing a damn linebacker ...from Washington DC no less. Linebackers grow like weeds in Ohio and we'll always have a studly corps of them.

We've got a tremendous O-line in the making and a running back who can take advantage of their blocking. That's the combination that's made tOSU an NCAA football superpower -- great blocking and great running. Don't worry, be happy!

I'm extremely excited about Maurice, but it really should be Boone and JamO you are excited about after the AA game. Boone was dominant and the first time someone caught a pass against JamO was at the very end and he was pushed out immediately.

Also, it was JamO who apparently stripped the football from stewart.

Rico looked very good, but we can't land every top player. And he is deifnitely not needed at all with the LBs we've brought in already. Wells was.

Now the player we're all gonna be drooling over is Jason Gwaltney. He showed a lot of vision, grit and toughness out there. In a game that favors the defense so much they have to make blitzes illegal, he broke off a number of good runs after facing defenders in the backfield.

If tOSU can pick up Gwaltney, all of the doubters of Tressel need to be quiet for a long time.

Another thing... Tressel has put together such strong classes and locked up early commitments that he hasn't needed as many late commitments. So while a few late switches to USC leave us bitter, his ability to bring in blue-chip after blue-chip defender (and a few goodies on O too) and also his eye for grabbing "average" (per Rivals) players and turn them into all-americans (Hawk) is why we all are excited about the next 4 years despite facing very tough Texas/USC squads and tough UM/Iowa squads.

damn.....one of my favorite guys cant get any pub....jamo is going to be a stud too....
jamario ever mention where the coaches are thinking he will start out. he could play corner or safety for sure i would say. he was electric as a soph at mansfield on offense and i imagine he still is though i never saw him light it up at glenville.

best part of jamario, like teddy, is that he isn't only a freakish athlete, he is a natural football player. he should adapt quickly to the athletic side of college life and make an immediate impact covering kicks if nothing else, kind of like how cie grant and mike doss did that year as freshmen.

boone did look very good. since wells hardly played i watched boone mostly and i love to watch linemen. he should provide for stiff competition if nothing else in camp. i look for him to play at least some this year, but i am always way too optimistic. every year i presume we are going undefeated.

as for the AA game, i thought this years talent was subpar compared to years past. maybe this isn't a deep year across the nation. who knows.

rouse had some of the teddy type of moves but looked like he was 4.5 at best.

lucky, stewart, and gwaltney all showed flashes in limited opportunities. too bad wells didn't get a few more opportunities. really too bad for the lewis kid.

i thought the nicholson kid was the best linebacker on the field, followed by mccoy.

i have seen dozens of better ohio HS qbs than the paulus kid performed today. he better hoop it up big time or study hard because he looked more like hype than football talent.

what an idiot that desean guy was. also what an athlete. he should take the sure baseball money and give it a run with the option of coming back to football and college with loads of cash. athletes like that make great baseball players if they are willing to put in the time, which apparently he has.

sanchez looked really good. i wonder who is going to be the next star qb at MV for coach johnson and i wonder if we can get a look from him.

i found it funny that they were talking about the don juan guy that verballed to ND and how he would help them out with their lack of speed and then they list him as a 4.7 guy. damn ND must be slower than i thought if 4.7 is helping.
