Game Thread (2004) Game Three: @ NCState - 9/18/04 (W, 3-0)

It was publicized that he did something to his hammy in fall camp and I didnt see him with a carry in the Richmond game so there must be something to it.

I do agree that short of amputation he will play.

-An area of interest for me in regards to NCSU is their kicker. They are using a soph punter in the dual kicker capacity and he was 2 of 3 vs Richmond but it says the long was something like 23 yds?? Looks like he is more of a natural punter but how many times already this year have weak kickers cost teams?

-Another poster touched on this but Davis(NCSU QB) had 10 attempts last year so at this point in their careers I would have to give the experience edge to JZ, lol.

-It's pretty clear after watching the MU game again that they were absolutely selling out vs the run and daring Zwick to beat them. After his performance I wonder if Amato will use the same tactic?

-If he goes this route and JZ delivers again imo it won't be much longer untill DC's have to play it more straight up. When this happens we will have a very effective offense because as much as we all bag on him, Ross can get it done vs a normal 7 man front. If Tress finally starts to get his 200/250 split watch out.

-Staying with offense, I think as the season wears on we will see that these were two SR laden, experienced, well coached defenses that the young guys had to cut their teeth on and they have done a tremendous job.

-I see NCSU as a carbon copy of Marshall with more overall talent but less experience/talent at QB. I don't see two straight opponents being able to run on us and so its very likely they will put the game in the hands of Davis.

All in all I am going to go with
OSU 21
NCSU 17

Cut out the TO's and punt/cover punt better and we will be fine.

If the Pack wins, its because of our offense not playing up to potential. Not because the "D" gives up 35.

24-21 Bucks. Scores the same as this week. However, we win the turnover battle by 2 and Bam or Hall is the hero. Holmes can count on being doubled all day now.

We really don't know what NC State can do yet. Scary on one side because they haven't had to show anything on film yet. Good on the other side because their QB doesn't know adversity or how fast our "D" really is. Our linebackers will bait him a few times into bad throws thinking the crossing route will be open, when it aint.

35-28 pack
Although we may not win on Saturday I think we need to keep something in mind when thinking about this game. Something that I am guilty of sometimes is trying to predict a game based on the last weeks performance. If you used the performance of the 1st week to determine the out come of the 2and weeks games you were wrong on many like I was. In NCF when a team has a rough week they think they have something to prove and often come out and play very well (Marshal, Notre Dame). Sometimes the teams that win big seem to think that they can take the week off and they will beat the hell out of the other team just because they won their last game (<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:State w:st="on">Texas</st1:State>, scUM, <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Oregon</st1:place></st1:State>, OSU). All of these four teams either struggled against an inferior opponent or lost. Again im not saying we will win because road games are very tough and you can bet they have treated this like their opener the whole summer, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see us handle them convincingly.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

This game scares the hell out of me, but I will never pick against the Bucks. I have faith that JT will find a way to win whether the final score is 4-3 or 44-43. If the weather is bad my pick is 14-10 if it's good 27-24. Come on boys pull one through for me.

it'll be interesting to see how hurrican ivan affects the game. i saw on the weather channel that it's supposedly heading towards the carolinas once it gets into the states. this could be like last years' fsu/miami game weather-wise

I think that this will be a very low scoring game. Especially if the game is played with Ivan being around. I think both defenses are better than the offenses. I think the key to this game is can NCST run the ball effectively they have several good running backs. I also feel that it will be interesting to see how their QB performs against an actual defense because of their QB being young I think we get at least one pick or fumble. We do have to limit our turnovers but I think we can still win even if we don't play perfect. I think we will get one special teams score and one turnover forced to set up an offense TD. I think that the final score will be. But NCST will be close the whole game and Nuge comes through again with a last second field goal.<O:p</O:p

OSU 17<O:p</O:p
NCST14<O:p</O:p
