Game Thread (2004) Game One: Cincinnati - 9/4/04 (W, 1-0)

This game should be a minimum 24-31 point win for us. However, I believe JT hates to "pile on" points against any opponent, because the opposing coaches are in his brotherhood. This will be especially true of Dantonio. I think we'll win by 14.

It will be close for a while, maybe the whole first half. Perhaps a halftime score of 13-3. Our superior conditioning and depth will wear them down in the second half in very warm game conditions. Final score: 30-10.

:oh: :io:

Remember here fellas, lets not get cocky. If we take Cincinnati lightly and anticipate some kind of blowout we are going to be quite mistaken. Cincy has a fantastic coach and is being named as a pre season conference USA favorite by some. They are heavily talented on defense, especially at the defensive end position. They have a great QB, which can go very far in a game like this one.

I'm not blowing this one off, it will be a tough challenge for a green OSU squad.

Since when has a JT coached team ever blown anybody out? Give Dantonio his due - they'll be ready.

OSU wins on a fast track 24-10. Not a blow-out by any means.

JT has coached in exactly 12 OOC games at OSU
he is 11-1
total pts 367-187
avg score 30.6-15.6
put up 50+ twice
put up 40-49 twice

-If you consider 14pts a blowout they have done it 6 times
-If it takes 21 points or more to satisfy then its "only" been done 3 out of 12 times.

Last OOC blowout for me was Washington 2003. Final was only 28-9 but it was never even close. TT in '02 was the other home opener that was supposed to be a test. Have some faith-we are going to smack these guys.

I'll give Dantonio his due all day long but he simply dosen't have the horses right now. You can be the greatest tactician in football history but if your X's cant block my O's I'm going to win.

somewhere there was a post that the "official line" was at 18.

That is a tough call for me ....

OSU should beat them by 18 .....

but I am hesitant to take it

If I knew a RB would step up ... I would take it ....

Too many unknowns or me to ... I don't bet this one.

There has been talk that 'recent events' have transformed the Marshall game from 'possibly overlooked' to 'asterisked'.

Does that mean that the Bucks might be 'looking ahead' to Marshall when we play Cinci? Doubtful. Very Doubtful.

I'm just glad we get a week off after 3 OOC games that will be more intense than most people (fans of other teams) appreciate.

I live in Tennessee so I dot get much news about OSU so maybe someone can help me out. I talked to my uncle a couple days ago (he lives in Columbus) and he said he heard rumors that the UC game was being delayed or postponed. I couldn't find anything to support this anywhere so maybe he was just confused. Let me know if anyone has heard anything. Thanks

GO BUCKS!!

Watch

Watch for Tony Gonzalez and Ted Ginn.

Those two ALONE can break games WIDE open...................Darius Hiley as well..................................I am excited...this is going to be one hell of a team on both sides of the ball...

Pretty sure Hiley is gone from the program for academics. Agree with your idea though, this team has the most talent and depth of any so far in the JT era. All that remains to be seen is how quickly they mature and live up to that potential.

All I know is I will be even more useless than normal at work this week, I am beyond ready for this year to kick off !!

THis sucks. I have to leave for a conference in Milwaukee this sunday morning. Whch means I get to spend this week focused on getting ready for my presentation. I can't concentrate. . . I'm gonna be up there heckling people based on their team's performances this weekend, because I'll have nothing prepared regarding MY work... sigh. I'm screwed.

Hey, Biobuck or molgen buck... wanna earn some quick cash? prepare my presentation for me... k?
