Obviously what I meant to say was: "IMO Louis will be in the custody of the man this year."

Actually, McMullen started the game and Krenzel relieved him...throwing a couple of touchdown passes but sealing the Illinois win by tossing an interception for a touchdown near the end of the game.VprHis said:Bear in mind that Krenzel's first start was in 2001 (Illinois, wasn't it?) and he did just fine... but we all know CK. Zwick is an unknown, and that is worrisome. You made a very good point about Dantonio... he knows (and will use) every trick in the book, and I'm sure he's sitting down there just thinking up some new ones, too.
We're lucky that he doesn't have the players he's used to. Cinci's players are good, don't get me wrong, but I think the differences in skill, speed, and training--though slight--will be enough for our O to keep just a step ahead of the game. And bear in mind that for several of those guys, one step is more than enough.
This won't be a laugher, by any means. I'm expecting a solid game by all involved. Dantonio has always been able (much like Tressel) to get his guys to play beyond their abilities, and I foresee a time of prosperity in UC football... But this IS the BUCKEYE state, and Tress's boys are still the biggest, baddest bunch on the block. We'll be OK :)
You're not alone on the Krenzel thing... a lot of people forgot about that game. He threw it right to the LB but made no excuses afterward... he said he just didn't see him. As for Cinci, Marshall and NC State, look for a heay dose of Lydell and company and great D to get us over the hump. I wouldn't look for JT to unleash an aerial barrage against those guys. We just have better football players than everyone on our schedule with the possible exception of a few Wolverines (Baas and Jackson).VprHis said:I stand corrected. Thanks. It's an ironic commentary on the past few years that we get nervous about games like Cinci, and NCState, or even Marshall... when our team has gone 25-2 in the past two years. Keeps the games interesting, though :)
Nothing against these teams. I'm just saying that traditionally, we'd have considered these to be locks.
This is very true, but keep in mind that the Cats are very inexperienced where it counts the most.........up the middle. Although they return 2 all conference players on the ends, they are very very weak up the middle with both defensive tackles making minimal inpact at the collegiate level. The 'Cats have 17 returning starters
bukIpower said:Hey I have tickets to the game its in the Endzone where the big score board is! I'm in the upper Left corner of the stands are these good seats? anyhow I think the buckeyes come out fired up and take it from the beginning when they rattle Gino with some big hits, I know Dantonio will have his crew ready. The only thing I see that could do tosu in is possibly turnovers and I know its weird to say but maybe the field position with the punting problems we might have. (hope we won't have to punt tho).
I see it being close like last time, decided by 3-6 points.
I don't understand this logic? First of all, no one has any clue how the offense will look, to many new personnel, but remember alot of those guys have played so I guess the question will be if they gel.But back to the thread's topic, I don't see OSU scoring a lot of points in the opener because of having so many newbies and I don't see Cincy scoring too many points either because they'll be going against our defense. I see it being close like last time, decided by 3-6 points.
