Game Thread (2004) Bowl Game: MasterCard Alamo Bowl - Oklahoma State - 12/29/04 (W, 8-4/4-4)

Woods makes that offense go. He is a playmaker...erratic at times but a definite threat.

Schlegel will be key in stuffing the run, but I would not be surprised to see Carp get some reps this month at Mike to allow Freeman on the field for some extra speed in contain. Just a quick thought there...gotta break this down some more.

I think we match up well with OKstate compaired to TTech I personally was not looking forward to watching that basketball offense tech runs. This should be nice and physical, give our linebackers a showcase on national TV. Any comments from their side yet??? :osu:

:oh: :io: :drunks:

Oklahoma State is a very physical team, coached by an Ohio guy (Les Miles).
Sorry JT, but Miles lost his "Ohio priveleges" a long time ago. He's a M*ch*g*n guy now.

Fortunately though, JT's famous scUM voodoo extends to all the bastard sons of scUM, no matter where they are scattered throughout the world. Miles cannot hide behind a false OSU! The power of the sweater vest compels you!

Adam
Don't sweat it man! Last year I went to Columbus for OSU/Washington, and I was intimidated as all hell when we had to walk a mile to get to the stadium, and everywhere you looked was scarlet and gray. But as I got closer to the stadium, I started to notice that people didn't care about anything, they only cared that you were passionate about tOSU football. Just hang out, watch others, and JOIN IN AND BE LOUD! It only takes one game, then you are a pro. Download some of the band's music at www.fightmusic.com, and then check out lyrics and practice, then people will know you know your stuff! Always clap during the fight song, and throw up the O-H-I-O during Hang on Sloopy. Then to really impress, hang out after gametime, and salute the band with the rest of the fans and sing Carmen Ohio! Above all, suck it all in, and have a blast! I went to the Fiesta Bowl in Tempe last year, and even tho us OSU fans were out numbered, we were just as loud or louder than the KState people. Again have fun!

Amen to that I like him as well, And I agree he'd better straiten up and not try so hard to be objective. He already has our respect...now support the team 100%. go BUCKS!

From an Oklahoma State Fan

I think I speak for most Oklahoma State fans in saying, we are happy to get to play such a great University as you have in Ohio State. My father's best friend is a big tOSU fan, so we are really happy to get to get our fans together for a big bowl like this.

San Antonio is a great place for a bowl game. We were there in 1997 to play Purdue, then again this past April for the Final Four (which we will return this year, in St Louis).

I wanted to ask, if the admin/owner of this site would please email me at: [email protected] I would like to trade links for the bowl game. My site, www.o-state.com is the largest non-networked Oklahoma State site on the internet. It's good to keep us 'non-networked' sites together. Trade traffic, etc.

The only bad thing, right now, about my site. Because of the large number of 'lurkers' I had to lock'er down to only registered users viewing the board. You have to be registered and logged in. It caused problems on our servers so we had to do it this way. You'll NEVER get spam mail from the site, so don't worry.

Anyway, wanted to post some information on the Cowboys... for those that may have not seen the team play, or only seen them once.

Offense? We run the ball 78% of the time. When we do pass it, it's usually a deep pass to one of two fast/big receivers. Our offense is the #1 scoring O in the Big XII. How? No clue :)

Sometimes our playcalling is terrible. Our last game against Tech, our coaches didn't adjust AT ALL. We never threw it. In fact, before the final 4 minutes... our starter was 6-for-9 passing. NINE PASSES ALL GAME! We lost because of our OC/HC calling some terrible plays.

We can be a dangerous team. We could put up 40 on most teams, just depends on what type of day our coaches have.

QB: Donovan Woods, freshman QB that is brother of the great Rashaun Woods and current OSU WR, D'Juan Woods. Donovan struggled early this year. Didn't pass the ball much at all in the first game or three... but from about game 4 to game 10, he turned into a serious threat passing and running the ball.

He is by far the most underrated QB in the NCAA. His QB rating is almost 160, 2nd in the Big XII Conference and top 10 in the NCAA. He has trouble throwing short, but can hit his brother or Preintiss Elliott deep.

Lately, he has ran the ball well. Started out slow during the year, but has had games of 70-yards rushing. So his 'normal' stat line would be: 210 yards passing, 1 TD with 65-yards rushing, 2 TDs.

RB: We are a deep and very good running team. Vernand Morency didn't get ANY hype this year, despite being as good as Adrian Peterson and Cedric Benson this year. He finished the year with 1,454 yards and 12 touchdowns in 10 games. Peterson had 350 or so yards in two more games. He was 3rd in the Big XII and 8th nationally.

Morecny is a Thurman Thomas-type (another former Cowboy) running back. Built about the same also. Against Texas, he took a screen pass 70-yards across about 10 UT defenders for a TD.

Backups? Seymore Shaw played in place of V-Mo in the final home game, rushed for 174 yards. He was a former #1 player out of the state of Oklahoma. Very fast.

FB: Shawn Willis is a NFL-type fullback. He's huge and bruising. Can carry you down the field on a carry, but normally gets 4-5 yards right thru the line before you know what hit you. GREAT blocker. That's what he's known for. CRUSHING blocker.

WR: D'Juan Woods might be the BEST receiver in the NCAA. Yes, again, might be the BEST in the NCAA. The guy learned from his big brother, Rashaun, and is faster and has as good of hands as his big-bro. D'Juan is about 6'3 220 pounds. He has 'jump ball' hands and is almost unstoppable. His average per catch is amazing: 22.41 yards per catch. That's the 2nd best average in the country this year.

Preintiss Elliott wears #11 and is a small, quick receiver. He has had several catches of 50+ yards this year. Homerun type receiver. He also returns punts and is impossible to take down. He returned one for a score in our final home game.

TE: Billy Bajema, was s pre-season All-Big XII TE. He rarely touched the ball. He's good, but don't expect to see much go his way. Same for Charlie Johnson, but Charlie is a HUGE TE. He had one catch against Tech last week, went for 24 yards.

OL: We have some very solid linemen this year. Sam Mayes will be in the NFL next year, for sure and you'll hear most of the OSU quotes come from him. Average about 300 pounds across the line.

Defense? Ugh. We've been bend-no-break forever now. Our DC is Bill Clay, from Miss State and UAB. He's been around since college football started.

For some reason, we run the 4-2-5 and get burnt in the secondary. We are the KINGS OF 3RD DOWNS! You have a 3rd and 16? NO PROBLEM! Our defensive backs will give you a 20 yard cusion!!! Tech was something like 14 for 19 on 3rd downs (no kidding) in our final game. Horrible. BUT, teams don't score that much on us. Tech really was kept under 20 by our defense, if it wasn't for our poor offensive play calling, we win that game.

DL: Decent DL, not great. We have a couple of big men in the middle... and some decent ends, but we will rarely get to a QB. They are really young, and we lost one of our top players this year due to 'personal' reasons.

LB: We only have two backers. One is more of a DE size, hits hard. The other is smaller (Paul Duren) that was a former QB. He is good, more of the team leader.

DB: We have a bunch of speed burners in the secondary. Problem is, they are all like 5'7. Well, not really 5'7 (McLamore is) but more like 5'11 so most tall receiver can catch 'over' our guys. We will keep up with anyone, but when we see jump balls, we are in trouble.

One of the problems has been, we lost our All-American DB and PR, Darrent Williams. He was a senior this year and close to breaking the NCAA record for career TDs as a defensive player. He broke his arm mid-season and tried to play against Baylor. "could" be back for the bowl, I doubt it. He was the best punt returner in the nation last year.

Special Teams: We have the nations BEST kickoff man. He's also our punter, Cole Farden. Funny someone would say that, but he kicks the ball either 10-yards out of the endzone or he will almost 'punt' the ball on kickoffs... and see his kids land right at the goal line. By the time the ball is there, all our guys are already at the 5 ready to hit the receiver.

Jason Ricks is our FG kicker. He is good, but young. He has made some mistakes this year, but did kick a 55-yarder last game. He is something like 11-for-14 on the season.

So, there you have it!!! I really do hope you stop by my site and register to post. Lots of great Cowboy fans there and already a few Buckeye fans posting!!!
