BBQ in San Antonio
If y'all are coming down for The Alamo Bowl, ya gotta have some
Texas Barbeque. Barbeque is a hallowed thing here in the Lone Star State, not to be taken lightly. Some Texans think cooking with BBQ sauce is a sin. Others swear by it. Anyway you look at it, San Antonio is a great place for carnivores. And BTW: we call charred cow flesh Brisket (not tri-tip - sorry Caleefornians).
There are four big barbeque places in town (not counting the Bill Miller chain; that would be akin to saying Taco Bell is a Mexican restaraunt), and countless smaller ones:
Tom's Ribs

My favorite, located either at Vance Jackson & I-410, Nacadoches Road, or Stone Oak Parkway. Tom Norris'
Baby Back Ribs are to die for. If y'all have a bigger appetite than I do, go for the The Big 3: Baby Back Ribs plus your choice of two other meats (smoked brisket, BBQ chicken, smoked turkey breast or smoked sausage). Get out the plastic bib.
County Line

Good stuff, Maynard. You can find County Line restaraunts across Texas, and there are two locations in San Antonio. One is on The Riverwalk (next to the Hard Rock Café), within walking distance of you Buckeye Fans staying at a hotel on the river. Same kind of thing on the menu, with the gut-buster being the
Five Meat Smokehouse Combo. The County Line uniquely ships its ribs worldwide (

Rudy's Country Store & Bar-B-Q
http://www.rudys.com/index.html
There are Rudy's Bar-B-Q restaraunts throught Texas (one in Lubbock, where that other team is from) and some in New Mexico. Two of 'em are in San Antonio, one near SeaWorld (west side of town), and the other in Leon Springs (on I-10, just north of town). I love their
Smoked Turkey and Cream Corn. While the Tom's Ribs and The County Line are traditional sit-down restaurants, Rudy's features cafeteria-style BBQ: you order whatever you want by the pound, throw in a few sides, a cold beer or two, and head for the picnic tables outside (yes, you can sit inside, too).
Grady's Bar-B-Q

Hometown born 'n raised, Grady's has been serving BBQ in San Antonio since 1948. There are six of to shoose from, and I usually go to Grady's Texas Star Inn on Bandera Road (northwest part of town), and the one on South Zarzamora is close to where I work. You can order by the pound at Grady's, or choose from their list of Specialty Plates. While not BBQ, I like their
Catfish Dinner (when I feel like eating healthy). Don't forget the cold beer.
