the refs didn't decide the game today. The shots just stopped falling. I really wish we would have given sullinger a clear out more often in the second half. They took away dials, yet sullinger rarely got the ball later in the game. Nobody could come close to stopping him in the first half.

Foster can keep shooting (he needs to find his stroke again somehow), but does he really have to shoot so many every game? He must have taken 10 threes today.

such as allowing bruenner to charge thru a set defender, jump up, land, and then throw up a shot off the board (which he rebounded... it was very easy to tell he landed).

We shot like shit (again) from the arch and also from the foul line. Won't win against good teams like that. We were up by 9 halfway through the second half and promptly got outscored by 16....16 fucking points, people. There's no excuse for being outscored by that much in such a short period of time.

refs blew more calls in favor of iowa.. using the DVR throughout the game there were multiple missed and wrong calls made

i dont blame the refs but they certainly didnt help.

EDIT: Mili i agree.. the foul shooting was terrible.. what was it one point in 7 minutes..

We did? That's news to me. :)

Two things that are telling about today's game in my opinion:

1) Getting outscored by 10 in the second half
2) Scoring 4 points in the last 9 minutes of the game

You won't win many games when you do even one of those in a game, more less two.

Hopefully the shots will start dropping one of these games--they haven't been since the Illinois game here in Columbus.

Here's the stat of the game:

Iowa 3-pointers: 7-17 (41%)
OSU 3-pointers: 6-28 (21%)

Iowa Total FG's: 26-54 (48%)
OSU Total FG's: 22-56 (39%)

Blame it on the refs all you like (and yes, I thought Bruner got away with murder many times and Dials was getting a bunch of tacky calls against him) but we didn't shoot worth crap in the 2nd half and that lost the game for us.

I'm not a big fan of when the color commentator is rooting for a team. The classic example is Dick Vitale announcing any given Duke game. Here, Billy Packer was rooting for Iowa. He questioned all the foul calls against Brunner, whereas I couldn't understand how Brunner didn't foul out twice today. My personal take on it is that Packer wanted his opinion that Memphis deserved the last #1 seed to be validated with an OSU loss. I'm not pissed about it, but it kinda stinks. What makes it all the worse is that Packer, moreso than Vitale, has a high basketball intelligence, so the average neutral fan eats it up for the truth.

I know a lot of people don't believe in such a thing, but I think this was a good loss for the Buckeyes. We needed to lose. Je'Kel really needs to get his head into it. Lewis needs to pick it up on D. Hopefully they're humbled, pissed, and ready to build themselves back up against a 15 seed.

Hurts to lose, but this team has far exceeded my expectations this year. How many could honestly say that before the season started we would win the BIG TEN and be playing in the Big Ten Tourny title game for a chance at a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Here's to our #2 seed and the best Athletic Department in the nation :cheers:
