Game Thread #2 tOSU at #3 Oregon, Sat. Oct. 12, 7:30 pm ET, NBC

Oregon just proved it is, Texas might be, Georgia perhaps, Bama perhaps. But I really don't think our focus should be the National Championship. We've got something to prove the last Saturday of November. Do that and what happened today and what happens in December/January will be an afterthought.
UGA who lost to Bama? Bama who lost to Vandy?

Uh no. Maybe Texas. But no one else.

I like Howard and he really hasn't done anything to warrant it per se, but if you really want to win a title this year, you have to make a QB change now. You can't win a title with such a limp dick, wet noodle arm at QB. It's just not going to happen. Literally no defense has to play back because his arm commands zero respect.

There's just no way you're going to make it through three games of a playoff against elite teams with a guy who can't push a ball more than 15 yards.
You're unequivocally the stupidest fucking part of this fan base.

Ultimately, this game doesn't have a big impact on the goals. Lost by 1 point on the road to the #3 team with a chance to win it on the last drive. All the goals are still attainable. But anybody that feels like we're any closer to shaking Ryan Day's big game bugaboo, I wish I could get there. The same hallmarks were there - defense cannot get stops when needed, and I'm sorry, but that last drive was the infield personification of my issues with Day...take a sack on the first play, a Shugarts, an OPI (don't fare how soft it was, you cannot let the refs have any margin to throw laundry there), and lastly mismanaging the clock. They 100% should have won that game, but couldn't get out of their own way.

Anyway, it is what it is. On to the next one...
jaxbuck Is somewhere photoshopping a photo of Ryan Day’s face onto Coop’s body, printing it, and using it for target practice.

Thats OSU under Day in big games. That Clemson win was years ago.

While repeatedly tripping on our dicks roughly half the game
And we still almost won. I think some people just look for anything they can to be miserable and complain. We didn’t play well . Point blank. It’s a football game and it’s 1 loss. Can’t blame the coaches for Burke seeing his draft stock drop by at least a round. Can’t blame the coaches for the best OL getting injured. Once he went out, running became significantly more difficult. Can’t blame the coaches for the false start or the fumbles. This was a team loss. To a very good team who MANY people underestimated even though they were ranked #3. Crying like bitches accomplishes nothing and that’s what I’m seeing from quite a few posters who are normally solid posters.

How do you come into this game and not play well? I thought they had this game circled for a year? LOL. At some point someone is held accountable.

Everyone wanted NFL lite. They got it. This is the first loss where I literally don't fucking care. (To be clear just sounding off, not arguing)

Let's stop with the 2014 comparisons, that was a young team getting its feet wet in week 2 after losing its best player (Braxton) just weeks before the season.

This is a veteran team that was supposed to be generational, there are no comparisons.
The guy carrying a good chunk of the offense in the 2nd half and made the back breaking penalty is a freshman.

The guy filling in for simmons is what a barely used junior. The guy playing linebacker is a junoir at a new position. Yes it's an odl team but some key players are young

While I agree that some posters have gone overboard with the vitriol, there's absolutely a reason to be concerned about Day and his teams' ability to get over the hump and beat an elite team.

The goal is to win titles, not be a top 5 team.
