Game Thread #2 tOSU at #3 Oregon, Sat. Oct. 12, 7:30 pm ET, NBC

Everybody has to stop acting like a bunch of pussies. The season isn't lost.

Maybe when we return 22 starters we'll stop dribbling down our leg in big games

I’m actually OK with the loss. We were 1 questionable OPI call away from winning, and very well could have won the game. It was pretty evenly matched in a game where a lot went wrong for us. They played with their hair on fire in their home stadium, but it was clear that overall we had the better players. They just made more plays than us.

I almost prefer the loss than if they had made a walk off field goal. The loss stings more and makes them want it more and it gives them something to rally behind. We will likely see them again on a neutral field and I like our chances. There is a lot on tape for them to look at and improve on, and I think they can in most cases. The line play in general is my biggest worry, but it’s not so bad that we can’t still win out as is. Winning the game would have masked some of the issues, not solved them.

It’s not about winning in October, it’s about winning in December and January, and I think the L here gets them closer to that goal than a W would have.

Oh no. Just the same exact issues that plague every Ryan Day big game dating back four years.
My problem is double standards. Every big game in season he won suddenly wasn't a big game. ND not a big game. PSU not a big game. You know if they beat oregon twice this year and they finished 10th Suddenly not a big game.

Is day perfect clearly not. Is he a damn fine coach yes. Anyone trying to use Georgiia against him is insane. UM he needs to get it fixed despite the cheating.

This game and the Clemson game he lost are the only times I can think of the team being sloppy this game more than the Clemson

Didn't JJ initiate contact before 5 yards and so that would be a legal push? Or was it a borderline or a clearly correct call?

Could his one-handed catch on an end zone fade last week have been called OPI?
5 yard rule doesn't exist in college. Contact is allowed as long as the ball isn't in the air. Unless holding or opi.

My issue with the call was the defender initiated contact tried to get physical with a frosh and was tossed and then they are like oh OPI.

Notre Dame and Penn State (any recent season) are not the caliber we're talking about. Day can beat really good teams, just can't beat elite ones, which they're gonna have to do if they wanna win the NC. Nothing about the game tonight makes me think he's gonna just magically fix it all of a sudden.

not saying you’re totally off base but we’ll reevaluate at the end of the year. He could have won a ton of good will today but instead there are more questions than ever.

Pretty much all I'm saying. Is if we beat TSUN the last few years and lost in the playoffs. No one here would be considering TSUN Elite and we'd be having the same arguement. It would have haha TSUN manball can't work at the elite level.

So at some point ELITE is a circular arguemnt that means win in the Playoffs.

The 12 men on the field penalty - that could have been intentional and in the NFL I think that could be called an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty if the officials thought it was on purpose. Didn't they make that rule change after the Patriots or the Ravens abused the loophole? They happened to have a twelfth guy in coverage on the bunch side at 10 seconds left. The result was a trade of a 5 yard penalty for four seconds. Do college officials have an ability to call that differently?

This one could’ve gone either way tonight. Here’s a positive I took from it. Oregon damn near played flawless tonight at home and won by 1 over a team who had two bad turnovers and many penalties. IF we clean that up we beat Oregonby 10 in Indy.

Oregon played to their ceiling and we didn’t. If and when this current OSU team can find their ceiling, the sky is still the limit. It’s on Day to help them find it.

I cannot truly say that was Oregon’s best. I mean, I know for sure it wasn’t our best either.
