Been some gloom on here.

Seems that there is a largely untested team (this year) that should be well-rested and without any real injury problems, against which we do not match up well on offense or defense and yet they are only favored by less than a field goal.

I'm trying to wrap my head around that. Is it just a betting thing, because it surely cannot be a football thing with the gloomy match-up scenarios stated by quite a few? Honest question.

It was a time thing nothing to do with the suspension. That week Vegas had us favored to win the NC. Now we are 3rd in Vegas. The D has shown vulnerability to the pass coupled with Fields knee makes me and Vegas less confident.

It’s a wildly small spread which sort of indicates Vegas thinks of it as more or less a pick em. 55-45 or 60-40 type odds. That’s just my opinion. Like you said, things have been exposed for OSU. Little bit more in recent weeks (offense being halted with effective blitzing and deep zones, defense surrendering a lot through the air etc.)

Not all that unreasonable to me.

Nobody wants to get into the weeds of the game because they don’t like what they see . I believe I was more confident before the suspension ..3 point win for the good guys. O-H

People have literally just posted 38 minute videos of in the weeds discussion of the game. Everyone here knows that Clemson recruits at a level comparable to ours, has good coaching, an elite QB, RB,. and WRs, and a history of beating OSU so there's not the typical level of confidence that comes before a run of the mill conference game. That said, I don't see anyone quaking in their boots in terror, and I, for one, think that the Buckeyes will win if they play a reasonably clean game. I trust our coaches to come up with a good game plan and make good adjustments, I like that we've been tested much more than they have this season, I think we're better in the trenches on both sides of the ball, and I think that our supposed recent weaknesses are largely a mirage based on the absence of Wade in the Michigan game and overall fatigue from the stacked end of season schedule in the first half of the Big Ten title game. The three weeks off should be a Godsend for the Buckeyes, and I expect them to play very well.

I-O.

True but we'll see how much of those struggles were do to flaws being exposed or a combination of fatigue (playing 3 Top 15 teams in a row) and player injuries (Munford's back, Fields's knee, Wade sitting out the Michigan game, Okudah sitting out the entire first half of the B1G championship). Would love to see what LSU or Clemson would've looked like after playing three ranked teams in a row.

In most of the big games Day has put in a special play that has exploited a weakness on the opposing Defense. Sure hope he has one or two drawn up against Clemson. Also wondering if Fields is going to be healthy enough to be given the green light to run the ball when needed.

From everything I've read, Fields should be 100% or at least extremely close to it.

We will score to me it’s on the D to not let Lawerence go off.
Yeah that's what I think too...

I was excessively confident pre rutgers but something in that Rutgers game defensively just felt off. Then it seemed like we just never recovered defensively to be that dominant force we were.

I think we peaked at the Maryland game at the half. Then our defense became human IMO.

I think confidence wise it killed us to give up 14 and then 21 to Maryland and Rutgers. Teams started getting points and it just felt like our defense was on its heels for the past few weeks.

IMO a few things changed...
1. Teams took away Chase
2. Teams threw on 1st down
3. We struggled with tackling
4. We struggled to adjust quickly

This game will be on our defense win or lose.

It’s on the D especially scheme ..we can’t be predictable and must get pressure without losing contain. If Lawerence gets a good presnap read we are dead.

Buckeye fans are such babies, crying about "three tough games in a row".

Just count your blessings you didn't have to run the SEC gauntlet.

The Bucks could have had to face Vandy, Mizzu, and Tennecheat. Or worse. Just think about being in the SEC West and having to play Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Miss St?

No wonder they have to throw in an FCS game in there before they try to take on a rival.

Some of it is playing better teams, but yeah, losing Wade and then Okudah for a half was obviously an issue. I feel like people acknowledge the fact, but not the consequences.

This D wasn't going to hold everyone to 10 points for the rest of the year anyway. Yes Clemson presents issues, and if the LBs aren't sharper and the tackling doesn't improve it'll be hard to win. But with time off I think they'll be more ready than they were against Wisconsin.
