Shaun Wade made an excellent football play, a third-down sack that forced a punt. The refs erroneously called targeting, giving Clemson an undeserved first down and an eventual touchdown.

Jeffrey Okudah made an excellent football play, forcing a fumble that was scooped and scored by Jordan Fuller. The refs erroneously called the pass incomplete, taking a touchdown away from Ohio State.

What could Ohio State have done differently to avoid those positions that the refs put them in?

What could Ohio State have done differently to overcome the 14-point swing that the refs gave to Clemson?

Please explain these things to me, because I am having a very difficult time understanding the difference between the refs "impacting the game" and the refs "beating us". Because to me, when the refs impact the game that much, they certainly can - and in this case actually did - beat us.
Not to mention the missed hands to the face on Chase Young on the same targeting play, would that have been a replay of 4th and 15 or whatever?

I'm just pissed because the better team lost tonight.

Our D was better than their O and short of a couple big plays/missed assignments they don't do much. Our offense bested their D much of the game by being able to move the ball down the field pretty regularly.

They got every break on non calls and reviews, and we fucked ourselves by bailing them out of drives with penalties. Our red zone execution was shit, JF wasn't as agile, and either of those could have overcome all of that fuckery.

In 2016 I was disappointed that the better team bested us, but this game I'm pissed because that wasn't the case.

One thing about cancelling our trip got me thinking....

This is BAD for the city of NOLA. One team is an hour and a half away and the other one doesn't have nearly as big of a fanbase like ours.... let alone one that travels.

It's probably the worst scenario. Getting Ohio State to come to your city guarantees better tourism. I'd be interested to know how many cancellations there are tomorrow on Airbnb, etc..

No no and no.

We were going to stay in a double shotgun house and I cannot imagine how it would feel to find out the neighbors were Clemson fans. I've been there before and pretty much the only reason we were going was to do all the fun NC stuff like Media Day and tailgating.

I appreciate your optimism but after reading the shit LSU fans posted about us over the past 2 weeks and dealing with these asswipes, I can't imagine how it would be in person. If I was a casual football fan then it would be an option. But I just can't. It would be too painful as weird as it sounds.

The points will go back into our Southwest airlines account and the $150 (total) will be held on there for us to use to go somewhere else.... but I was really hoping to go to this esp after we had so much fun at the Rose bowl. We never put down a deposit on the house. It just randomly happened I started talking to a host of one of those places and he was going to give us a great deal.

In the end we didn't lose money... just the time of planning the trip. But, we knew it was an option.

I already cancelled the airfare. Hopefully we can go somewhere else soon.

Southwest has flights from Tampa to Detroit for about $100 each way! Who wouldn’t want to vacation in Detroit in January?

If he thought Fields was scrambling from the pocket / potential sack, he would have improvised out (if the route called for in). Only thing that makes any kind of sense.

Olave stated after game when he hit top of his route he looked back and saw Justin scrambling (which Fields did adjust his position in the pocket)....so it was just an honest miscommunication and terrible timing. In the split second Olave checked on Fields in pocket, he processed it as a scramble drill and broke his route. Fields assumed Olave was sticking with original route.

Tough situation.

I keep saying I am done for the night and I keep coming back. I keep watching replay after replay of all this crap knowing 100% we were the better team we are the better team and it took a series of BS to barely beat us.

Yes some of this BS was our own fault like the roughing the punter but some of it was BS that didn't go our way.

JK gets tripped up at the 8 so we settle for a FG instead of getting a TD.

The TD overturn on replay

The targeting

JK barely tripped up on the 2nd to final drive

The pick at the end

I can't take it I know you can't take it this hurts this was our year this was our year.
