Not dip his head. If he keeps it straight up it's not a penalty. I don't like the rule because it's too broadly enforced, but players have to play like they expect it to be called.

I'm more pissed about blondie's 67 yard TD run, and the missed red zone opportunities. Those are the reasons the targeting call is magnified.

I actually agree with you here, but the rules are applied so arbitrarily that you can do the right thing and still get flagged.

Hopping into the WABAC machine to go back to 2006 when an OSU d-lineman got flagged for hitting Colt McCoy....didn’t lower his helmet at all, but because he was 6 inches taller than McCoy, he still got flagged for helmet to helmet. Refs suck and I hate giving them this much discretion to change a game on a bang-bang play.

No, it's not. Wade lowers his head just before impact. Defenders have to know the rule, be it shitty or not.

Fuck it, we blew red zone chances and gave up a long run to Barbie. THAT's why it's 16-14.
