1st timer looking for suggestions

Hit the Varsity Club on Lane. And take some time to walk around campus. We've got one of the nicest ones in the country. Love the atmosphere.

I've always enjoyed just walking along Lane avenue. For bigger games, they'll totally close down Lane Avenue. Maybe they do that for all games, lately. But yeah - Skull Session. Walk around and take in the atmosphere. It's a night game so you'll have lots of time. Check out some tailgate parties. (Don't get caught with open alcohol container. I'm still pissed about that from 2008.) Ramp entrance, script Ohio, other band stuff. Football game. Post-victory Carmen Ohio.

Hit the Varsity Club on Friday. You won't get inside after about 1 on Saturday. Bring a hat, gloves and something much warmer than a Cali tan. Don't wear green or blue. Check out Hineygate about 5 on Saturday. You'll have to be in the field house by 6 - 6:30 to have any chance at the Skull Session. I used to love it, but it's kind of a pain in the ass to get into now - even with a 15,000 seat site - us Buckeyes loves the band. check out the newly re-furbished library and the new student union.

It would help those of us who'd like to help you if we knew where you're staying. That can have an impact on what we recommend. For instance - you don't want to be in your car looking for a place to park after about 3PM - no joke.

ZURP(Don't get caught with open alcohol container.)/ZURP

i.e. grab onto a plastic cup early and keep it. Beer/bourbon/rum/gin in a plastic cup = no problem. Beer/bourbon/rum/gin from a bottle and the swat team - yeah, the CPD SWAT team and their M-WRAPs show up for the game - will take you down.

Walk the campus, from Ohio Stadium, past the Main Library, to Mirror Lake, across the Oval to High Street, then come back down Woodruff past the Fisher COB, St Johns and the Schott, then back to the Stadium for tailgating. You'll have a great sense of the place and a memory.

Tommy's Pizza on Lane Ave, either the campus store on the corner of Neil Ave or the Upper Arlington store about 2 miles to the west, just east of North Star Ave. Best pizza in town, imo, and representative of Columbus style pizza. A relatively thin flakey pastry style crust cut in squares. (Pay no attention to those who recommend Adriataco's.)

Thanks for all the suggestions and the advice, keep 'em coming. I will search it, but what is ramp entrance? Which end of the stadium for Carmen Ohio and do I need to hurry over there right after the game?

The ramp entrance is the band entering the field prior to Script Ohio. You want to be in your seats to witness it. Carmen Ohio is sung by the team/fans immediately following the game. Basically, stay in your seats & don't be in a rush to leave.

Carmen Ohio is played in front of the students in the South Stands. If you're not already sitting there you won't be able to get there from elsewhere in the stadium without going onto the field (I think).

Assuming the Bucks win, listen for the ringing of the Victory Bell afterward. It's in the southeast tower of the 'Shoe. It won't ring until after other postgame activities like Carmen Ohio, basically when the show is over.

If you're looking for some great places to eat, I recommend Schmidt's or The Thurman Cafe.
Plan on waiting a couple of hours if you go there on game day. We went to The Thurman Cafe this year when the bucks were at home. We waited an hour and asked the guy how much longer. He said another half hour/45 minutes. He will lie to you, trust me. We were fed up and left at that point.

In Cbus for the weekend for the daughter to dance. Went to Thurman's last night and waited 1hr and a half, couldn't imagine what it'd be on game night
