'12 TX LB Dalton Santos (Texas signee)

somebody help me out here. Why such a need for a LB? We have Curtis Grant waiting for his shot, the No. 1 LB prospect last year. Is Curtis not panning out?

Sabino and Klein looked awful and got more playing time that Curtis, but that doesnt necessarily mean Curtis cant get the job done. Afterall, this was the same coaching staff that took forever to start Braxton and Shazier...

You can never have enough studs on defense who can fly to the ball and lay someone out.

This year should have illustrated that with all of the injuries we sustained. Depth isn't going 2 deeps in some positions -it's about being able to have a 3rd or 4th guy ready to go and who is already good on special teams.

He's 245, now? He'll probably outgrow LBer and become an End.

Clay Matthews is an inch taller and 10 pounds heavier and is playing LB in the pros at an All-Pro level. I'd say that if Santos grew only a little more than he is now, we should have no problems keeping him at LB.

Matthews is playing a rush outside linebacker in a 3-4 system in the pros. So it's not exactly the same thing is Santos playing LB in our 4-3.

Have you seen him play other than highlights?

No, what league does he play in again, the CFL? Maybe I can catch a game...

I haven't seen any film at all on Santos, besides watching the game last night where he was almost exclusively playing MIKE, so I don't really know what kind of position he projects out to. But based on the opinions of wad and 22, all of the players that 22 said that Santos reminded him of, it sounds like he projects as a MIKE. Which means that him and Clay Matthews are really not good comparisons.

Lots of stud plays on his video but his pursuit of the QB at the 1:07 mark is very impressive. He sure seems to mention a desire in his interview video for the SEC but just the thought of landing him and Williams in this class is enought to keep me glued to his recruitment. Considering the DL class we have.....wow.
