Kozan waiting to make his decision

By Phil Kornblut
OL Alex Kozan of Castle Rock, CO does not plan to make a decision until October and realizes some of his opportunities, like USC, might not be available then. ?I know they are going to pick up another commitment,? Kozan said. ?They are a fit for me. If they are filling up, I'll let it go. If not, I'll be interested.? Kozan said he has been in touch with USC line coach Shawn Elliott. Kozan visited USC recently on a trip that also took him to North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, LSU and Auburn. He also plans to visit Oregon. Kozan has over 20 offers and plans to narrow his list in August. He will take some official visits with Iowa the only definite trip at this point.

Any guesses as to what's keeping the coaches from pulling the trigger on an offer?
Cinnabons. Glazed and delicious. That is the only plausible explanation.

Perhaps they are waiting until August to assess Diamond's situation, or maybe a reconsideration from Dodson. I think Kozan would do quite well on this line and deserves an offer.

But really, its cinnabon. The staff got their hands on a wicked half dozen or so.

Crap... and I'm on a diet and everything. Thanks, jerkface.

I'm puzzled... its a long ways to signing day, and who knows, maybe theres some talk to Diamond, Davidson, etc. behind the scenes that I don't know about, but I am just SHOCKED that this kid doesn't have an offer.

Has good size at 6-4 and 295 pounds. He has offers from programs like LSU, Iowa, and Arkansas, so the talent is obviously there, and its not like the staff doesn't believe that given that they named him Camp MVP. He obviously wants to be a Buckeye as he has said. I'm just puzzled, flat out. We have committs from only two other OL, with Kalis off the board and Diamond has been a rumored silent to UM for a long time, and with Dodson supposedly solid to Wisconsin.

We're getting dangerously close to not being able to fill out a two-deep with scholarship olineman. Granted, I realize there are two walk-ons there in Blackmon and the big kid we got around signing day who's name escapes me, but with where we stand with the targeted lineman we have now and the lack of an offer on the Kozan front here I'm getting nervous.

Like I said, still 6-7 months until signing day, but I'm both puzzled and nervous by how OL recruitment has been handled.

We have 10 with Boren and Elflein

Norwell
Hall
Bobek
Linsley
Mewhort
Carter
Brown
Underwood
Elflein
Boren

2 more and I'm happy. 1 and I think we can last. 2013 is another good year in state for OL. Lovell is a must get and we should get him and Billy Price plus we probably need 2 tackles and there are candidates.

We'll have 0 seniors on the 2012 OL so depth should be very good by 2013.

2011 freshman are supposedly looking really good so they can add some good depth for 2012 with Bobek likely starting at center.

I agree. I'm not exactly sure what the staff is doing as far as with o linemen. We need as many as we can get now, especially kids who want to be buckeyes. This kid should've had an offer months ago, of not right after the camp

Great list and for me the big big issue is who plays LT and who can back up at LT next year. This may be the reason we are not after Kozan. The evaluation may be that he can not play Tackle. We need a couple pure tackles.....a guy like Diamond comes to mind.....he could very well come in and compete to start as a freshman at LT. The other big thing is if Boren will be a guard or a FB. Hearing both from different people. Go Bucks
