'11 VA OL Landon Turner (North Carolina Signee)

Buckrock;1548217; said:
Its good to see the staff on him this early as an OOS prospect. An offer probably is imminent at some point. Alot depends on who tOSU ends up signing in the 2010 class at OT (James or Henderson). OL are risky recruits. If you strike out on a prospect, its not like you can move them to another position. You are basically stuck with this Scholarship for 4 or 5 years. I like how Bollman works out a prospect at their camp before offering.
I never got this argument. While the OL is the most dangerous position to offer, it is also the most numerous position on the team. If the chances of success are low, then you have to increase the # of offers to get sufficient penetrance, quality and longevity on the line.

Rivals $

From the UGA site...talks about his interest in UGA and Coach Searels...UGA was the first school to send a recruiting letter...talks about the start to season and says a UGA offer would but the Bulldogs up near the top of his list with UVA and UNC.

Scout $ - Turner Updates Recruitment

By Bob Lichtenfels
Posted Oct 29, 2009

Lichtenfels states Turner may be the most dominant lineman in the country. Virginia and Stanford offered last week. He plans on taking trips to UNC and Maryland soon. His recent trip to West Virginia left quite an impression and has made the Mountaineers pretty high on his list. There's no mention of Ohio State in the article.

Obviously, Turner is nasty and he reminds me a lot of Norwell. That looked like a scene for The Blindside. The competition looks awfully suspect, but you can tell Turner does a great job of chopping his feet after engaging and staying with his man, that is when he hasn't already planted them. "Ohh" and "Ahh" blocks are great, but I like to see a lineman who can move his feet while engaged and Turner does that too. His pad level looks good and once he gains leverage, it is over. I would like to see how he does against better competition though, especially in pass pro. Overall, I am a bit surprised we haven't offered if he is really interested, as Turner is certainly an elite OL in '11.

Not all WVU

WOW!!! That is one of the most impressive highlight films of an OL i've ever seen. I am salivating over the thought of him and Henderson playing together. I heard he was all WVU though. I hope not, I want him in S&G....

Good news- Not all WVU

Bad news- uphill battle against Va Tech, UNC, WVU

Maybe an offer would change this?

Elite Lineman has plan in place
By Kevin Ledford

...
?Growing up, I was a West Virginia fan; my dad played there, my uncle played there, and I always played with them on the NCAA video games.?

But when the recruiting process began, through the advice of his family and coaches, he ?threw fanhood out the window because that doesn?t mean it?s exactly the right place for me.? So what is he looking for in a school?

?A good business program; not too far away from home, I don?t mind leaving, but not too far away from home; the fans, I love the fans; the campus; and the coaching staff?the coaching staff is huge.?

Landon specifically named three coaches that stand out: Coach (Jim) Bollman at Ohio State, Coach (Curt) Newsome of Virginia Tech, and Coach (Sam) Pittman from UNC. ?They?re all awesome dudes, and really funny, too, ? he says.

Landon doesn?t have one particular leader as of yet, but says Virginia Tech, North Carolina, West Virginia, Ohio State, and Georgia make up his top 5, followed closely by Virginia and Michigan State.

And who is recruiting him the hardest? ?I would say Tech, North Carolina, and West Virginia for sure; Ohio State after that.?
