Evaluation
November, 2009: Parker is built like a high-level guard and he is a scoring machine. He's an explosive dynamic athlete that scores in bunches and can take over a game. He has a good looking stroke out to the three point line; showed the ability to shot fake and dribble into his shot; or he can get it to the basket where he is able to absorb contact and finish. He is effective in either an up-tempo or half-court game, but he shines in transition where he does a good job of filling a lane or spotting up. He is a solid secondary handler that can assist in breaking the press and is a good decision maker off the dribble. With his combination of strength, length and athleticism he has the potential to be a lock-down defender. He has developed into one of the top shooting guards in the 2011 class and will be highly sought after in the recruiting process.
July, 2009: Dai-Jon is a very gifted and athletic wing player. He is an excellent passer who sees the open floor and puts the ball in his teammates hands where they can do something with it. He can score it in many different ways. He can shoot the ball from long range with accuracy and possesses a quicker first step than most in his class. Parker allows the game to come to him early but when he decides to turn it on and take over, he shows a mean streak that makes him difficult to defend. He uses the one dribble pull-up jumper that creates space from his defender and does a great job coming off screens for shots or curls to the rim. On defense, he defends the ball and passing lanes really well. Parker shows a mean streak that sets him apart from others who possess similar size and skills. He has great passion on the floor and you can tell he loves to compete and loves the game.
May, 2009: Parker has exploded on the scene as an excellent all-around player that can beat you in a lot of ways. He is subtle at first allowing the game to come to him, but he had some brief stretches where he was the dominant player on the floor. His ability to finish in transition from any direction is impressive. In the half court he forces his defender to stay close to respect his 3-point shot and can blow by his man with a quick first step. He has a nice feel off the dribble and made quite a few plays for his teammates with a well timed pass. He is a good defender with the potential to guard multiple positions while he uses his length and athleticism to keep his opponent off balance; he is good in the passing lanes and causes problems off the ball with his help-side defense.
