'11 GA SG Dai-Jon Parker (Vanderbilt Verbal)

very interesting top 4 for a bball recuit imo. Anyone have a feel for which way he is leaning?
I think that we have enough wing players to get us by next season and 2012 is a very good class for wing players and we are sitting pretty with a few of them plus I thought Parker was going to play football:!

Dai-Jon Parker, SG, GNB: On this squad, he?s got primary ball handler responsibilities. Frankly, we didn?t think of him that way until Saturday when he showed some long term potential to make the transition from the SG to the point. Playing with this squad allows him to expand his game at that position which is intriguing. There are definitely points of emphasis to work on like ball value, but he?s a smart kid and could be a combo in some situations early in his career.

Dai-Jon Parker ?11, Milton (GA): Virginia Tech, Northwestern, Ohio State, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kansas, and Oklahoma State are his final eight
Offers: All except Kansas
Favorites: None
Notes- Parker has been to Virginia Tech, Northwestern, Oklahoma State, and Georgia on unofficial visits. I asked Parker what he likes about each finalist, and on Virginia Tech he said, ?Good style of play, style of play we play in high school.? On Northwestern he said, ?It?s an impact school, I can go there and excel [as a part] of the environment it?s in, go in and make it a basketball school. On Ohio State he said, ?They [produce] players all the time [and I would] become a better player.? On Florida State he said, ?Probably the press and run game, even with the bigs, get up and down.? On Georgia he said, ?If I wanna stay close to home . . . and the coach is good.? He likes that Georgia Tech is in-state and on Kansas he likes the style of play. On Oklahoma State he said, ?The coach coaches James Anderson the past season and he went like 17th [in the NBA Draft and they] . . . develop guards, put them through, a good environment.?

From an e-mail from a Milton contact. This information is a repeat that has been posted.

There was talk about Parker playing football again this year and that schools like Duke, Georgia Tech, and Georgia had offered situations where he could play both. The guy has great speed and apparently could be an elite receiver. He has decided against football, however, and is having a good summer

Surprise player

Dai-Jon Parker (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton)
2011, SG, 6-3, 180 pounds | Team: USA South
Parker came off the bench in the first half and led USA South on a tremendous run. He has that highly coveted second gear off the dribble that is very difficult to stop. He also explodes in transition and has the skill level to either drop off a nifty assist or pull up and hit a jump shot. Parker gets great lift on his shot, and his release is smooth. His savviness and game management needs to improve (he plays too fast), but he's an explosive talent.

After finishing runner-up to Georgia Tech for star prospect, UGA has shot at his teammate
October 20, 2010, by Michael Carvell

Georgia basketball coach Mark Fox finished as the runner-up to Georgia Tech in the sweepstakes for Milton High?s Julian Royal. However, the Bulldogs have a shot at one of his heralded teammates.

Georgia is one of the finalists for shooting guard Dai-Jon Parker, who is also considering Oregon State, Oklahoma State, Rhode Island and Vanderbilt. Parker will announce his college decision on Nov. 5.

The 6-foot-4 Parker is considered one of the state?s best defenders, and covered the other team?s best offensive player during Milton?s state championship run last season. He is also known for thunderous dunks which can change the momentum of a game.

Georgia wants Parker to play both of the guard positions in college. Georgia Tech, which was once heavily recruiting Parker, is no longer involved.

Dai-Jon Parker commits to Vanderbilt
By Paul Biancardi
ESPN Recruiting

Four-star prospect Dai-Jon Parker (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton), the top uncommitted shooting guard in the nation, announced he has committed to Vanderbilt and coach Kevin Stallings over Georgia and Oregon State. He joins fellow ESPNU 100 prospect PG Kedren Johnson (Lewisburg, Tenn./Marshall County), making a scary 1-2 backcourt of the future in the SEC. Parker will have an immediate impact and be a terrific weapon as he becomes more familiar with Stallings' motion offense, which may be the hardest system for freshmen to learn.

"Vandy is a great fit for him as a player and student," Milton coach David Boyd said.
