If I do remember though he plays for quite the run heavy team. I could definitely see UC getting him, Brian Kelly is starting to seal off top talent in Cincinnati. Even with the kid from Lakota West committing to UC, Kelly finds ways for the best players to get on the field.

Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez has been aggressive offering scholarships to prospects from the state of Ohio. The latest from the Buckeye State to receive an offer from the Wolverines is Cincinnati Elder tight end Alex Welch.

The 6-foot-5 and 225-pound Welch caught 32 passes for over 400 yards and four touchdowns during his junior season.

Welch, who landed an offer from Florida State in mid-April, now has a dozen scholarship offers. His others include Wisconsin, Purdue, Illinois, Northwestern, Boston College, Indiana and North Carolina State.

Welch is really piling up big time offers. I seriously doubt he stays verbaled to UC.
Does anyone have a feeling if tOSU is going to offer a TE at all? Seems they would have sent one out by now to CJ, Welch, etc. Maybe Tyrone Williams is a possibility at TE? Thanks

It is Alex Smith who has verballed to UC, not Alex Welch. :p

His two favorites are Notre Dame and Ohio State (at least according to my sources). He does have family ties to Notre Dame, but playing time is an issue. With Rudy all ready playing TE, he will have to sit for a while. From what I heard one of his strengths is blocking so I don't know why the Buckeyes haven't offered yet.

Yeah I don't get why we haven't offered either. But I know a lot of the kids from Catholic schools on the westside of Cincy dream of going to Notre Dame, and Rivals says that he'd been offered a schollie. But dream schools don't always win in out in the end, and I hope we can snatch him up, it hurt enough when we couldn't get Kyle Rudolph, I'd like to see this kid in S&G!
