'10 OH TE Alex Welch (Notre Dame signee)

Wow he's really piling up the offers...ND and Oklahoma really utilize the position so I would think he must be a good athlete. I have a feeling we will offer eventually because I don't think we land Fiedorowicz.

It's interesting that Notre Dame offered considering they were one of Fiedorowicz's top 3. One would assume they either feel Welch is just as good as CJ or they don't have a good feeling about CJ.

I wonder if tsun applies that some concept when sending out their offers.

Midwest Recruiting Blog - ESPN

Last year, Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis signed one of the top prospects in Ohio, tight end Kyle Rudolph (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Elder). Rudolph went on to have an excellent freshman season for the Fighting Irish.

On Thursday, Weis threw his hat in the ring for Rudolph's former teammate, tight end Alex Welch (Cincinnati, Ohio/ Elder).

"Notre Dame called the school [Thursday] and then I called coach Weis later in the day after I got done lifting," Welch said. "He said they liked my tape a lot and I have a scholarship offer there."

The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder caught 32 passes for over 400 yards and four touchdowns during his junior season.

Welch has almost two dozen scholarship offers on the table. In addition to Notre Dame his list includes Oklahoma, Michigan, Michigan State, Florida State, Stanford, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Boston College, Wake Forest and Maryland.

"Oklahoma offered on Wednesday," Welch said. "I'm going to take some visits. I'll probably go to Notre Dame early in the summer. I might fly out to Oklahoma. And I'll visit some other schools too. I couldn't give you a top five right now, but the Notre Dame offer puts them up there."

OSU has offered. Dreamed of playing for ND & OSU. Decision timetable has now moved up from previous (late summer).

I just heard he's been offered, any confirmation to this?
you mean you read it on a premium site? You've been here long enough to know that we link things here... and if they can't be linked (because they are premium board posts), then they should not be posted.

Welch picks up dream offer

Southwestern Ohio is absolutely loaded with good tight ends in the 2010 class, and maybe the best of the bunch is Alex Welch from Elder High School. The talented player picked up a scholarship offer from Notre Dame last week, and now he has an offer from the Ohio State Buckeyes as well.

Alot of people thought he would be a Domer by the end of next week. Now that we have offered I wonder if it will change anything. I wanna know what the BPRT thinks.

He still might commit by the end of the week. The kid is a big ND fan and he's tight with Kyle Rudolph.

IMO, this offer might be too little too late....
