'10 OH SG Cameron Wright (Pitt Verbal)

Wright previously played at the Arby's Classic in Tennessee ... after scouring the internet reports, here are some nuggets:

After winning their first tourney game, Wright's team lost a close quarterfinal matchup against Memphis Briarcrest with UNC signee Leslie McDonald, 42-40, in a game that Benedictine led by 9 with 1:42 left. Wright scored 15 (7-15 shooting) and had 7 rebounds while McDonald scored 17 but had 8 in the 2 minutes after Wright fouled out (McDonald had only 3 first quarter field goals against Wright, who defended him nearly the entire game). One observer downplayed Cam's performance, saying that his "defense" consisted of running his mouth and getting in McDonald's head. There were only 4 fouls called against Briarcrest the entire game until they had to foul late in the 4th quarter to make a comeback (Benedictine arguably "lost" the game by failing to make enough FTs).

Wright's following game, 14 hours later, was against Miami Dr. Krop HS, and Benedictine was routed. The Krop coach said that Benedictine was flat. Wright was 3-12 from the field & 8-9 on FTs for 15 points and had 5 assists.

He really has great athletic ability...It is deceptive, but the one time he really took off down the court the other night he looked like a gazelle...But that is what allows him with his length to be such a good defender...

Wright didn't seem to really say much at all on the court the other day, so I kinda find it hard to believe he was jawin with McDonald...

Saw Wright yesterday...

He really looked passive at times yesterday...He kinda imposed his will in the second half at times, and looked good...

He is very fast end to end, and has the athleticism to play here for sure...He is pretty thin tho, so he will need to develop his body...Has a good looking stroke from the outside tho...Really hard to get a great read on him due to the type of game he plays, but you can see the talent is there...

Does a lot of things as well...Defense, offense, assists, etc...Doesn't look like a leader type tho, as his team was struggling and he just kinda stayed in the background...
Wright this year has seen a lot of face guards and any other defense that tries to isolate him offensively. Atlthough he's having a good season so far he feels there is still room for improvement. and one other note he is not thin by no means solid 194 pounds and it is all muscle. I don't know who you were looking at.

It is just how he is long...Kinda like Evan Turner...He is not built in thorugout his body like LIghty...But that will obviously come...

Jackson is committed to Central Michigan. You are getting too desperate for a PG. I am still saying that they do not play that good of competition. I just hope that Wright continues to improve.

I would kinda like Hitchens here that is now playing at Akron...and you never know how his game could improve over the summer...He had big games against St. eds and Desales who are pretty good teams...

And I was trying to get an opinion from someone that has seen him play regularly...
