Confidence in himself, his receivers and also timing/rhythm. Looking forward to the next five games and watching him ramp it up.Overall not what I expected, but OSU dictated the game and didn’t have to open up much. I like the way they got Smith the ball. Texas keyed on and stifled the run, but Donaldson got tough yards and I think the OL did well while being outnumbered. Few, if any plays where the RB wasn’t able to at least get back to LOS.
Plenty to improve on, but Sayin looked much sharper than Manning and he’ll be able to sling it when needed. Very excited to see the improvement through the season.
Takeaways from the game:
Defense played a good not great game. Got lucky a couple times with Manning making shit throws
Not a lot of pressure on Manning (Maybe 3 or 4 times)
Sayin was impressive when he had the chances to throw and composed
Play calling was conservative asf
Struggled to run the ball
Donaldson might be better than Peoples
Overall good first win against what is supposed to be an elite team. Hoping to see a couple of ass kickings the next two weeks.
both the joy and the downside of 12 team playoff. In the end, this game doesn't really mean anything, so no reason to make the rookie uncomfortable.Sat here wondering why we didnb't open it up with Sayin, and Day said that was the plan not to open it up.
Day handling things.
Texas is a great team with an awful QB and Ass play caller. They're gonna have to run Manning a lot to be successful, and I can't see him staying healthy.Texas does probably have a elite DL to be fair to the run game they won't play anything close for awhile
Decent? Yeesh, tough grader for a defense with 8 new starters, entire new DL, playing a talented offense in the 1st game of the year that shut them out for 56 minutesWell defense was decent, would like to see great. Offense has some work
Same as it ever wasThe media excuses and "let's not rush to judgment" posts are rolling in for Arch predictably. If Texas had won I somehow doubt Ohio State would be the same sentiment we would be called overrated

yes. I was a defensive player for my football career (not really a career, but you get my drift) so I'm always going to grade defenses more harshly. But I also believe that shutout was as much on Texas being bad at passing for most of the game, which some of was good defense, but how many open receivers did Arch miss in the first half? And "decent" is on the good side of average. Plenty of room for improvement going forward, especially with the 8 new starters.Decent?
