UNC essentially had another team they were shuttling in all game (12 players versus our 8). With the frantic pace of the first half fatigue was bound to set in on a few Buckeyes. This game displayed the depth of the 'Heels and Roy Williams should be commended for the recruiting job he's done.fourteenandoh;673863; said:jdharris86

Reply Re: Congrats Ohio State. You have a fine team!!! You guys are right Ohio State has a Great team...I thought OSU shooters kind of got fatigue and winded in the second half which enabled Carolina to go on the runs that they did..
I agree with this guy. I bet Thad does too. Even though they looked awesome you better believe Thad will be running their ass into the ground at practice trying to get them in better shape. I'm not saying that we aren't well condidtioned, but when you have as thin a lineup as we do you have to be that much better conditioned than the other team. This will pay big dividends later in the season.

KARL DEBLAKER | APThe Buckeyes? David Lighty, bottom, loses a battle for the ball to North Carolina?s Danny Green.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. As seasoned as the Ohio State men's basketball team was last season, and as good as the Buckeyes became, there is no comparison between how that team and this younger, less-tested one thinks of itself.
"The mind-set from last year to this year is very different," junior Jamar Butler said. "We have the mind-set we can beat anybody."
They almost did last night. And not just anybody. And, amazingly, they did it without Greg Oden.
Game from the start but short at the end, the No. 3-ranked Buckeyes pushed No. 7 North Carolina to the limit before falling 98-89 before a raucous, sellout crowd of 21,750 in the Smith Center.
The Buckeyes (6-1) led by as many as 10 points in the first half and by six with 12 minutes to play but could not hold on against the favored and deeper Tar Heels (5-1), ranked No. 7. Carolina used a 17-2 run to build a 10-point lead with 6 1/2 minutes to play and held on from there.
"I told our guys before the game, 'This is going to be one hell of a basketball game,' " Ohio State coach Thad Matta said. "I thought one team would hit 100 points, and I was hoping it was going to be us.
"That to me is college basketball right there, that environment, the plays that were made, the blocked shots, the hustle, the tipped passes. That was exciting."
Ron Lewis led the Buckeyes with 30 points, the most he has scored in two seasons at Ohio State. Ivan Harris added 17 points, including four three-point baskets in the second half, and Daequan Cook had 14 points and nine rebounds. Jamar Butler and Mike Conley Jr. combined for 13 assists.
"We played a hard game. We played together," Lewis said. "The one thing about our team is we're not going to quit."
Tyler Hansbrough led North Carolina with 21 points and 14 rebounds. He had 14 points in the second half, when he made all five of his shots from the field and made the difference in the outcome.
Trailing 68-63 with less than 11 minutes remaining, the Tar Heels uncorked a 17-2 run in a four-minute span to take command, 80-70, with 6:33 left.
Hansbrough, surrounded by defenders for much of the night, bulled through a triple team for a layup that started the run, added a three-point play midway through it that gave Carolina the lead for good, 70-68, and capped it with a driving layup.
"We felt with the game plan we had, we had a shot to win the game," Matta said. "We knew we were going to have to make some shots and we knew we were going to have to do a job guarding their inside guys.
"And, quite honestly, we preached we could not foul. You come on the road and shoot 13 free throws to 34 free throws, against a high-level team like that, it's probably not going to happen for you."
North Carolina made 22 of 34 free throws, Ohio State eight of 13.
Trailing 84-72 with less than five minutes remaining, Ohio State outscored the Tar Heels 11-4. Harris' fourth three of the half cut the deficit to 88-83 with 1:54 left.
But two free throws by Ty Lawson and a three-point play by Wayne Ellington boosted the Tar Heels' lead back to 10 and they played out the final 1:22. Ellington scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half.
North Carolina shot 53.1 percent from the field for the game. Ohio State shot 52.3 percent for the game.
"That was a heck of a basketball game," North Carolina coach Roy Williams said. "As a coach, you sit over there and marvel at the level the kids are playing at offensively."

I know he's the second coming but chill on the hype machine a bit.
I can't imagine how much it may have aggravated the Tar Heel fans but even as a Buckeye fan, I was tired of hearing it.
