'09 OH RB Bud Golden (Illinois Verbal)

If Sycamore is on a 4 pt scale and a 3.9 is not in the top 10% of the class ... I think they give out As way too liberally...I've seen various recruits with a GPA of 3.5 listed and have to raise their test scores in order to qualify.

Back to Bud, why did he not mention his offer from tOSU, was the interview conducted before it took place?

Hardly.

Sycamore is one of the finest public high schools in the state and the number of national merrit finalist it produces each year rivals St. Xavier and Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati.

back to Bud.

Wadc45,

I'm sorry to hear that the OSU offer is not official. Bud is probalby the best 'skill' guy in Cincinnati this coming season. I hope we don't have to wait too long to change the title of this thread back to 'Official Offer'.

By Brian Snow...great breakdown of Bud's strengths and areas that need imrpovement.

Good article, thanks, 45, for heads up. Curious about the circumstances regarding his injuries, though.

Particularly: What kind, how often, how severe, how long affected, etc.
Plus, how MANY times does he carry, how good is his line, what offense do they run, does he catch out of the backfield, etc.
The guy looks spectacular on the tape I've seen in a very good conference!

Anybody in the know when time permits, please...much appreciated!

Sycamore, like most teams in the state, run a variotion of the spread. The numbers I posted a couple of pages back are misleading. While the numbers looked almost balanced between run and pass, you will find that the QB has an abundant number of carries.
In 2006, Bud caught two passes against Colerain for 50 yards and looked explosive doing it. But he rarely touched the ball then because Mike Latessa was the starter, a senior, and a good player. Bud, to the best of my knowledge last year (Colerain and the Aviators did not play in 07) was troubled by an ankle and a hamstring. But he played and played well the entire season until he was hurt in week 10. He tried to play in the Moeller playoff game but couldn't go.
I don't think he's injury prone. He played with some pain last year and put up some very good numbers. I look for Mr. Golden to be a 1st team all-state perfomer this year.

Thank you very much, Honor&Glory! And I am very aware of the level of the competition. But one thing you didn't cover, if I may bother you one more time, his line. Are there, were there any D1 prospects in the mix? He really impressed me with his explosion. How much of that was all him? I really like this guy, otherwise I wouldn't bother you.

I did not see much of Sycamore last year. From what I did see, I would rank their o-line in the middle of the pack of the GMC. Colerain's line was the class of the league, Lakota West's line was outstanding, Lakota East's was very underrated and Hamilton's line was better than Colerain fans want to give credit to. Sycamore, however is beautifully coached by Datillo and his staff. They are very smart and some what athletic. They are just undersized. perfect unit for the read option, in my opinion.

I do not believe there are any D1 prospects on the Sycamore line. I'll have to do some more research and get back to you.

I've been trying to rack my brain about Sycamore football players recruited to OSU before Bud Golden and have come up empty.

Paul Jordan was a great Sycamore back in the early 1970s who had interest from OSU and Michigan but picked Bobby Bowden's West Virginia program. I think he lead Sycamore to its only undefeated season (not that it got them into the state tournament - think the state tournament began in '72 and Princeton represented SW Ohio in the first state tournament). Paul Jordan had an older brother who was on the Marshall team the year of the plane crash, but his brother was injured and didn't go on the plane. Don't know what happened to Paul or his older brother.

Any other Sycamore recruits for OSU?

Go Bucks!!

BuckeyeGrove - Brian Snow - 02/27/08

Is receiving interest from Illinois (offered), Ohio State, Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue, Cincinnati, Bowling Green, Ohio University, Alabama, and Oregon.

Ohio State was his childhood favorite, and he still likes the Buckeyes.

Lets keep those sentiments, Bud, hold on to them. I got a good feeling about him, whatever that's worth, and hope that he deserves an offer. I'll harp one more time on the film we have against competition in that conference. He's gots to be tough. Good size, (for speed anyway). Do we have a 40 on him? Sorry, too lazy to traverse the thread.

Film.

Hits the hole in a hurry...great north/south runner. Isn't going to dazzle you with a lot of jukes and moves but will pick up tough yards and has better speed than most RBs his size.

I agree...Still wouldn't mind seeing him get an offer, but not sure where he fits in with Hyde probably in sooner than later, and Hall looking he will be in...Then if not you have Berry who is thinking he will be getting an offer soon...
