'09 KY ATH Justin Green (Illinois Signee)

Young people. Biggest decision of their short lives up to this point. I don't think we have any right to "bash."

While Green could have handled the situation better, we don't know what he was telling the coaches. Maybe Tress already knew this was coming, and if so, the young man did nothing wrong here.

If that is the case, I would expect to see an extra DB sign in this class today. We're in need of DBs and can offer them playing time right away. If Green was entirely forthright with the staff, I'd expect that there will be another DB in this class. I'm sure the staff had a backup plan no matter what, but if they were aware of the fact that Green was going to swap today, I imagine they would already have someone waiting in the wings.

Obviously this site doesn't tolerate bashing recruits, which is one of the things that makes it preferable to so many other Buckeye and non-Buckeye sites out there. But I don't think it's over-the-top to say that a switch at the 11th hour isn't the most honorable way to go, especially when the recruit in question should be somewhat savvy about the process with an older brother (a former Buckeye, no less) and family that have already gone through the routine.

I'm sure he'll get a fine education at Illinois. I don't know the kid, but as a couch-based observer I'd say he's not really cut out for RB in major college football. He's simply not big enough. For his sake, I hope the Zooker convinces him to play CB. He will be a real stud as a defensive back.

The wrong thing that I really don't understand about Justin is the fact that I heard his brother twice on the local pregame football show say that he was coming to Ohio State and he really did not leave much doubt. I just don't understand how he could have misled his brother in that way. If anything, he should have told his brother that he was unsure about the entire situation. I have a brother who is 3 1/2 years older than me and I could never mislead him about something like this which would make him look like the family wasn't very close. Sort of feel sorry for Justin's older brother.

Just reading all the signs from JT's presser...especially on the number of recruits taken and trying to get under the limits.

I'm thinking he switched to Illinois because the staff wanted him to greyshirt.

Sarcasm font? Come on...
