Do you think that having the Berry and Hyde commits might have changed his mind a bit about tOSU ?

While the two Florida commits may help, I think that Vlad always liked tOSU, but sort of got shut out by all of the other DB recruits, who jumped onboard before him. Now for whatever reason (meaning why there is another Scholly open) he has been told that tOSU still has room for him. Hopefully the idea of coming up here and playing with all the other Floridians at tOSU puts him over the top, cause he would look fine in S&G.

Our depth chart helps, too. Possible changing of the guard at CB next year (Chimdi's the only sure thing returning) and a complete changing of the guard at safety the year after that (Russell, Coleman, Gant graduating) with O'Neal & Patterson graduating after this year.

Vlad's got a pretty amazing opportunity to do something big early on in his collegiate career if he chooses to come here, but we've got some other guys seeing that opportunity for themselves as well. It's all up to him, but if he's willing to compete and fight for one of those coveted spots, the sky is the limit for him.

Emilien's first official visit goes very well

Defensive back Vlad Emilien (Plantation, Fla.) is considering six schools and three of them are in the Big Ten. Emilien began his official visit schedule with a trip to one of those three, as he was in Madison over the weekend for the Wisconsin-Penn State game.

"The game was kind of surprising," Emilien said. "But seeing them lose, they were very mature about it. There was no finger pointing. They win together and they lose together."

Emilien found many things to his liking in Madison.

"The campus is beautiful," he said. "The coaches treated me well. I loved how the team bonded with each other. The coaches are down to earth and they have a good relationship with the players."

In addition to Wisconsin, Emilien says Michigan, Ohio State, South Florida, Stanford and Wake Forest are on his list. He has official visits scheduled to Michigan Oct. 25 when the Wolverines host Michigan State and Stanford Nov. 15 when USC comes to town.

"Right now everybody is on equal ground," Emilien said. "Basically it comes down to my visits and all the information I get from my research."
