Clemson Offers Son Of Hall Of Famer

By Phil Kornblut
Clemson is among the early offers for OL Kyle Long (6-7 293) of Charlottesviille, VA. Long is the son of NFL Hall of Famer Howie Long. Among his other offers are Boston College, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Kansas State, LSU, UCLA, Connecticut and Louisville. USC and Southern Cal also are showing interest. "No doors or closed on anybody," said his coach John Blake. "He's got great feet and unbelievable hands. He's aggressive. He likes planting people. I don't know how else to say it. Kyle wants to put them on their back and on the ground." Long has an older brother who plays at Virginia. He's also considered a baseball prospect as a pitcher and first baseman.

i heard somewhere that Kyle made a couple close friends friends during the summer camps, and he's part of a group of four that all want to attend the same school... anyone else heard this?
I really hope you just happened to leave out the "sarcastic" font on purpose.

What can Brown do for ND?

SOUTH BEND -- The first words out of Kyle Long's mouth were not Notre Dame.

But when the subject eventually came up recently, the son of NFL Hall-of-Famer Howie Long smiled and acknowledged that the school and the football program intrigued him.

It will be fledgling Irish defensive coordinator Corwin Brown's and third-year head coach Charlie Weis' job in the coming months to turn that intrigue into passion.

"Kyle Long would be the perfect fit as a defensive end in Notre Dame's new 3-4 defense," CSTV recruiting analyst Tom Lemming proclaimed.

But the 6-foot-7, 280-pound junior from St. Anne's-Belfield School in Charlottesville, Va., would also be the perfect tackle in somebody else's offensive line.

Yeah I wonder how Long feels about being recruited as a D lineman. I would imagine that he would prefer to be on the O line
