08 Recruiting (CBF40's look at our prospects)

Is Underwood not on shcolarship anymore... he would be a SR. Anyways: Terry, Grant, Underwood (if he is), Lukens, Barton, D.Johnon, Robinson is 7. Right now we have 79 I believe including the 15 (if we get Heyward) from the 2007 class and that leaves 13 for 2008.

I try to keep my own stuff and it is pretty in depth with scholarship counts, depth charts (my own, but updated throughout the year to reflect the official ones), photo profiles of the players & recruits and all. It is pretty cool (for both football and basketball) but I don't know how to put it on the web, which I would like to do. If anybody could let me know that would be great.

The elder Underwood transferred. The younger redshirted and will be a Junior (eligibility wise) for 2007 football.

So it is time for the first guess of 2008...You ready for the Vbet LJB...Give me the number and I will see what I think...

I am going with 18 guys in this class, with one greyshirt, even tho that might be a little high...

QB - Terelle Pryor
RB - Richard Watson
RB - DeVoe Torrence
WR - Kenny Tate
WR - Cordale Scott
TE - Kyle Rudolph
OL - Mike Adams
OL - Michael Brewster
OL/DT - Kyle Long
OL/DT - Josh Jenkins
DE - Nathan Williams
DT - Shaq Rowell
LB - Brandon Beachum
LB - Shayne Hale
LB - Andrew Sweat
DB - Dan McCarthy
DB - Terrance Parks
K - Ben Buchanan(greyshirt)

- This would be a dream type class, and at this point every single one of them has offers besides Nathan Williams, Rowell, and Beachum...

- I also don't think we will get all these guys b/c that would be too unrealistic, but there are guys like Fairchild, Stoneburner, Preaster, Flyod, Shugarts, Green, Sanders, Posey, Adams and the list goes on and on...I think we will cast a little wider net in the 2008 class and hopefully snag the guys that we want...

At this point I hate not having another guy that is truly a DT on the list and not having Johnny Adams on the list, but who do you take off. I would love to have 20-23 ships next year, but the staff will have to be selective, and you can also expect a couple camp offers...
Is the scholarship count including factors like attrition (M. Wells?) and/or grayshirts?
Yes very much so...I am not sure that we will get to that number, but there is a possibility if we have a couple guys leave early, guys transfer, leave the team or whatever...

Sad to only have 13 for next year. Hard to believe schools like Tennessee* can have classes as high as 31 when we go back-to-back 15 and 13.

* Not that hard to believe when you consider the discipline that team seems to have.

I will guarantee you that we have at least 15 guys in our class next year. MJenkins is gone. Maybe Laurinaitis, Boone, Gholston? Transfers? Guys that leave the team? Like I said in another thread, I think that we'll have around 18 to give next year.

The base is 13... I'm honestly a little skeptical if we can get up to 18, but I think 15 is a good number to start at. I just don't think we're going to drop too many players.
As for Tenn -- I'm glad we don't handle our program like that. It's a meatmarket in the SEC, and the turnover of kids is unbelievable. Good kids like D'Andrea, Kerr, and Lukens probably would have been forced out of the program out there... and that's a shame.

17 is optimum - per year. 20 is OK per year. Classes of 30 indicate a problem, not a windfall.

I think that despite my footnote, my post was a little unclear. I'm not saying I want 31 recruits in one year. I was just saying a) that having 13 to start a strong Ohio recruiting year is a little disappointing and b) it would be ridiculous to have 31 in a class.

Sorry, my post was all mushed together - I think the excitement of NLOID has my brain fried :bonk:
