'08 PA LB Shayne Hale (Pitt signee)

Shayne Hale, Gateway -- A 6-4, 245-pound linebacker, Hale has offers from Pitt, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida and Florida State, among others.

Hale and teammate Cameron Saddler (running back) also were recently offered by Oregon. It's highly unusual for the Ducks to fly into Western Pennsylvania for a recruit, but Hale said he and Saddler plan to visit the school. The reason? Oregon's uniforms.

"That's a must," Hale said. "We have to see those green uniforms in real life, up close and personal."

Pitt fans think they have a shot at everyone and can not understand why the top recruits don't go there... Seriously when is the last time Pitt held on to a big time recruit from the WPIAL???? Rob Rutherford maybe... Tyler Palko???

Dorin Dickerson... But we see your point...

Hopefully Shayne will do what's best for him and his career... If that means a package deal with Cameron, then so be it... Hopefully he keeps his love for tOSU...

From the Pitt site...reitereates he probably won't stay too close to home and doesn't have a favorite. Also reiterates how he and cousin Cam Saddler are looking at the same schools.

That has got to just kill Pitt fans who thought they had a legit shot...
It is worth mentioning that in Pittsburgh you will have as many - if not in some years more - fans of Penn State than Pitt. You are certainly going to find on aggregate a larger combined number of fans of PSU and ND vs Pitt. (Many, many catholic schools in and around Pittsburgh and the dormitory boroughs outside the city limits).

If you cannot win mindshare in your own town the lack of recruiting pull for local kids should come as no surprise at all.
