'08 PA LB Shayne Hale (Pitt signee)

THere's a few threads about Hale and Pryor on the scout PSU board. The consensus from their fans seems to be that Hale is overrated. Consider the source, I guess...sounds like a case of "we didn't need him anyway", since Hale is likely to leave the state.

Yup, just fans being fans on this one. Buckeye fans do it too. Although I think they realize that Hale wants to leave the state and his possible destination could be their arch nemesis, Ohio State.

I am still not ready to count out PSU...

That school has a pretty big pipeline to PSU and they will eventually show interest, I mean how can you not show interest in one of the best backers in the country when he is right in your own backyard...

i like this kid.. seems like he is well coached, and he knows where to find the ball. I would like to see a little more in pass coverage. Does anyone know if we are the clear leader with Beachum and DeVoe Torrence yet?

that won't happen, he'll commit after his visits from what I was told.

That article by Farrell agrees with you.

Apparently Michigan is trying to play the depth chart card here, much the same way they are with Torrence. Only in this instance, I don't think they have a leg to stand on. Hale has a chance to be the next Laurinaitis and won't have to wait long to get his chance, especially if James leaves early. Besides, Shayne seems like the kind of kid who would take a redshirt year if that means the chance to become the next dominant LB at the school he dreamed about playing at as a kid.

i think michigan is also recruiting his teammate cam saddler a 5'6" 155lb kick returner that is fast as a SEC lineman. Saddler happens to be Hale's best friend so there's that angle too.

Especially if Hale projects as a MLB... It'll be interesting to see who backs up Laurinaitis next year. Johnson is up in the air after his injury. Homan could probably play MLB but I like him better on the outside. There will be a huge need for a MLB in this class.

I like tall middle linebackers, and I REALLY like the idea of stealing one (if not a couple) of Pennsylvania's finest. Reel'em in!

How bout tall, strong, and a guy with good hands so he could drop back into some coverage with Laurenitis. Though if he would be playing Mike, then not a great chance he will be in coverage a whole lot.
