If he still has an offer - the spot is his.
If he really doesn't have one, then I'm pretty sure the recruiting staff would have been completely upfront with Hale.
The only other hypothetical option is that Hale is letting the prior listed offer stay public, when in fact that 'ship has sailed, as O8ch said, with Sabino and Howard.
My point is, I think you are making an unwarranted assumption that the Buckeye staff are somehow in the wrong on this, when that is not their style.
Honestly, I have no idea how this stuff really works. Assuming Hale has an actual written offer, how do they tell him it is revoked? I seriously don't know how this stuff works. Do they tell the coach? Do they tell the player? Do they just ignore him and assume he will get the message?
I wasn't implying that our coaching staff has done anything wrong at all. I think we even go way out of our way to not play games with recruits and that is one reason we offer way fewer players than many other schools who seem to play more games.
I was just pointing out that I hope they are able to pull his offer (assuming that is what happened) in a way that does not bother the coach or any of his talented younger teammates because Gateway seems to have a lot of great players and would be a nice place to get a bit of a foothold.
