'08 OH LB/RB Brandon Beachum (Penn State signee)

Scout (Free)

6/1

By Allen Wallace... Brandon has come up with a loose top 10 of LSU, Florida State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Boston College, Wisconsin, Louisville, Stanford and North Carolina State. He is also still considering Michigan St. and a few other schools. Brandon wants to decide by November because he will graduate and enroll in January at his school of choice.

With Andrew Sweat in and Shayne Hale heavily considering us, I think the coaches will simply take the best players on the board at this point. That means Beachum will have to impress coaches enough to earn offers over guys like Shaw, Woods, Adams, Pead...

Beachum has been great at the camps he's attended according to "experts".. If he does the same stuff at the OSU camp, maybe he improves his status.. I just can't imagine this class not having Brandon Beachum.. I know he doesn't have a position right now that translates definitively to the next level... But this guy is just a playmaker... Hope he gets an offer with Zordich off the board and Beal, Filer, and Sabino likely headed elsewhere

As previously stated, we have Sweat in and a good shot at Hale. We landed Hines and Rolle last year after the slew of '05 LB's with Homan, Gibson, Grant, Johnson, and Moeller (safety now but he could move back). I know people can move around and I'm not saying we won't take another LB, but I do believe we have the luxury of just picking the best player(s) at camp, and not just the best player at a position of need since LB is not a position of need now. If one of those players is Beachum, I am all for an offer and I am rooting for Brandon to get one.
