What's your guy's feel on this? I've heard Notre Dame guys tell me he's practically ND's already, and I've heard other Domers tell me they sincerely think he's a Buckeye at this point. If its anything like his brother Kyle, these are the two schools to be reckoned with most.

I think it's a toss up, maybe a slight edge for ND.

If a kid named "McCarthy" ...who attends a high school named for an Irish-American Cardinal from Youngstown's southside ...whose big brother is already headed to South Bend ...goes anywhere but Notre Dame, the earth's poles will reverse their magnetic fields and the Apocalypse will be upon us.

"Danny McCarthy" from "Cardinal Mooney" to tOSU? I'll believe it when I see the Four Horsemen riding down from the clouds. But, hey, that's just me.

I really think this will hinge almost entirely on Tressel's ability to sell OSU to Dan. Normally, OSU sells itself, but considering the odds against us(background and family connections and rooting interests), we'll need to rely on more than that to win this battle. I wll say that these are the recruits that Tressel tends to do well with. Humble, family centered recruits tend to like Tressel and our program, so I'm confident(but I still think we're fighting an uphill battle).

I'd be honored to get trod upon if it would bring McCarthy to tOSU. He's a terrific player and, evidently, a great kid.

But I believe that blood really is thicker than water. On that basis alone, I think it's likely that the young man leaves parochial school, Irish blood coursing through his veins, and heads for the Dome.

I hope I'm wrong.

[Same feelings about Michael Zordich, frankly. Dad was a captain and Mom was a cheerleader in Happy Valley. That's a lot of ancient family folklore for a teenager to walk away from. Hope I'm wrong on that one too.]

If PSU is in his top five, he could very well commit there. With his friend and teammate Zordich commiting there, I can see both playing on D at PSU.

If not tOSU, I would much rather see him at ND then PSU. Man, two very good players choosing PSU over tOSU would hurt.
