07 Recruiting (CBF40's look at our prospects)

Nathan Williams is a DE/LB that is actually from Miami Trace and is very, very tough. There is a thread on him. He has visited scUM twice but everyone from Trace told me he is a big Buckeye fan. Plus, the coaches were showing big love at the camp(he went to the same camp as me). Everyone from Trace expects both OSU and scUM to offer and for Nathan to become a Buckeye. I can't wait until his film comes out because he will quickly go to a top 100 player nationally imo.

Yeah I know about Nathan Williams, just trying to figure out it is him that went to the first two scUM games or if anyone knows who the other Nate Williams is. Also the reports were that Nathan was at the NIU game so I don't think he was at scUM.

I'm not sure how interested we are but apparently OSU is showing some early interest to a WR from Findlay and his name escapes me right now. I'm not sure to what extent the interest has been but keep a look out.

Ohio State has to have a decent chance of stealing some of those 'locks' to Illinois players. After getting killed by Rutgers, now losing to Syracuse. I know the one d-end already opened back up, but I think the other 2 or 3 (I think Hughes is ND's to loss) might do the same. Thanks Zooker

I think Tez is and always has been a lock to Notre Dame and same with Hughes now with the struggles of Illinois. I think the only other play Hughes would look would be Michigan.

And Brent is ours to lose at the moment...

Also not sure on the DT's. I think that it is going to come down to who wants in the the most. The staff wants Barksdale's last visit. Still is leaning this way as is Brent and Morgan is coming in for a visit this weekend. Also there is an outside chance on Jeremiah, but there has been no news on him.

Some other national guys that seem to be picking up steam are Wright, Hankerson, Little, and Anthony Davis.

Also the O'Dowd recruitment has seemed to go South a lil bit, so I wonder how the staff is handling the o-line recruitment. Only wanting to pull one of Davis or O'Dowd if they can or just taking a pass all together and waiting for the 08' class.

So as of now it looks like we might be bringing in more than 16 if the right guys want to jump on board. If not we will bank them for next year.

I added an extra star to Martin and Clifford b/c I believe that they both deserve that extra one.

Overall that looks like we are going to pull a class of a ton of 4 stars 2 or maybe 3 3 stars and if Clifford or Martin move up like they should I think we see 1 or 2 5 stars.

Also if Martin and Thomas come aboard We got a committment from every single prospect in Ohio that we offered, that is a little different from the beginning of the recruiting season when many thought Saine and Clifford were leaning to scUM and Martin was Notre Dame's and Thomas wasnt going to come here b/c of the problems with Chichester.

Also the d-line class is shaping up real well with Martin, Thomas, Still, Brent and Barksdale/Jeremiah look like a really big possibility as a class.

There seems to be a ton of positive recuriting news swirling around right now. At this point I am thinking we take 8 or 9 more guys, and from the looks of it all are going to be either 4 or 5 star guys.

Wouldnt it be awesome if we would finish our class with:

Martin, Thomas, Wilson, Still, Barksdale, Brent, Wright, Berry, Davis/O'Dowd...

That is 5 5 stars in my book with Martin, Wilson, Barksdale, Berry, Davis...

The only 3 that are going to be the hardest are Wilson, Berry, and Davis/O'Dowd but those are the ones that have had good news coming out of their camp lately.

The other guy that is worth keeping a close eye on is Hines. I have always thought he was worthy of an offer, and it was just a matter of times with grades. I would say that this situation won't be resolved until the first of the year.
