'07 OH LB Dewey Elliot (Harmony Prep)

why does he have an offical offer instead of other players that are in much better shape acadmically and are just waiting for their test scores.
No one except for the coaching staff and the recruits really know who has an "official offer". It is quite common for recruits to claim an offer from a certain school, and then for a reporter to publish that claim. The coaching staff cannot discuss recruits, so they cannot dispute the recruit's claim. Now, I'm not saying that such a chain of events actually occurred in Dewey's case, but it would not be entirely unreasonable to draw that inference from the known facts.

We have listed Dewey as holding an "official offer" because he has stated in published reports that he has one. However, I personally am sceptical, and I imagine that several others who follow recruiting closely share my view. In the end, I would be quite surprised if Dewey were to sign with the Buckeyes.

I'm going to throw a ? in the thread title until this get sorted out...many time a coach will say "If you get your grades sorted out there will be an offer for you." Maybe something like is what is going on here...

Its a Cumberland situation...he assumed it was an offer but it was more of a "if your grades were right, we'd love to have you" thing.

Hopefully he will realize he needs to go to prep school and not just take a second tier offer he has alot of talent.

I don't think the tier of offer has anything to do with this situation. It sounds to me like it is a Clearinghouse issue more than a tOSU admissions issue. Granted, he has to do a bit more to get into tOSU, but right now, I would be happy for the guy if he got his grades up to get into a second tier school..

He had great awareness once he got into the backfield and he's a sure tackler for the MLB spot...
