'07 OH LB Andrew Dailey (Penn State signee)

Free Rivals

6/7/06

Video review by veteran scout Randy Rodgers:

Plays Outside - very good in coverage. Reads patterns well and has good sense of passing lanes. Long strider, so tough to read on how fast he really is but he eats up ground. Backed off the ball a lot like a safety and is asked to cover TE's and RB's in man coverage. Has good toughness, makes a lot of plays in pursuit. Well coached and maybe more ready to play in college early because of it.

I'd like to note that Randy is not one of those scouts who only says positives...he points out plenty of flaws when reviewing film (check out the selection of QBs he reviewed if you want proof). Having said that, I think it says a lot that he really doesn't have hardly anything negative to say about Andrew.

NFLDraftBlitz rankings...nice to see Andrew getting some national attention. Also nice to see Hines name finally show up on a list:

OLB's
1. Austin Box- 6-3, 215 lbs, Enid, Oklahoma- 8.5
2. Andrew Dailey- 6-3, 215 lbs, Massillon, Ohio- 8.4
3. Steve Paskorz- 6-0, 208 lbs, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania- 8.3
4. Manny Abreu- 6-4, 225 lbs, Union City, New Jersey- 8.3
5. Stefoin Francois- 6-2, 210 lbs, Reserve, Louisiana- 8.2
6. Dominique Buchanan- 6-1, 235 lbs, Gilmer, Texas- 8.1
7. Keenan Robinson- 6-3, 211 lbs, Plano, Texas- 8.1
8. Jermale Hines- 6-2, 197 lbs, Cleveland, Ohio- 8.0
9. Stanley Hunter- 6-0, 205 lbs, Duncan, South Carolina-7.9
10. Tyler Nielsen- 6-4, 215 lbs, Humboldt, Iowa- 7.8

Analysis: The common thread between all of these linebackers is speed. Austin Box, Andrew Dailey, and Stefoin Francois have enough speed that they can play safety in college if necessary. There is decent depth in this year's class. While Box is a very nice prospect, this crop lacks the elite level prospect last year's class had in Allen Bradford. It is a very nice class, but it just doesn't have that one can't miss prospect.

about time. In the mass/st edward game I saw ,he was by far, the one player that stood out on every play on the defensive side on the field reminding me of BIGGER DUSTIN FOX.
Also, that ol/dl for st. ed thats going to pitt was a monster to on the d-line. He looked like another tim anderson. Osu might kick themselves in a few years about him

The question of Dailey isn't his talent, it's where he'll end up on the field in college and if he's capable of playing that position. It'll be interesting to see how he performs as a LB at Massillon this year.

True and I've never really thought of it like that. Hopefully he holds back on a decision and can impress enough this year to get that OSU offer.

DAILEY OFFERED BY PURDUE

Andrew Dailey, one of Stark County’s most recruited football players, was offered by Purdue recently. That brings his list of scholarship offers to Purdue, Pittsburgh, Nebraska, Syracuse, Penn State, Central Michigan and Bowling Green.

“His favorite is Notre Dame, and they haven’t offered yet,” Stacy said. “They keep in close contact with him, and he said they send him more text messages than anyone. That tells me — after having done that for 10 years — Notre Dame is still interested.”

Dailey attended Notre Dame’s one-day senior camp two weeks ago. He plans to attend Ohio State’s senior camp later this month.

Massillon has several other players getting looks from Division I schools. Running back and defensive back Brian Gamble has a couple of Mid-American Conference offers.

“The academic part of the recruiting process is getting more important every year,” Stacy said. “Colleges just aren’t willing to invest that kind of money in guys who they don’t know are going to be around academically.”

Emery Saunders and Darian McGuire are two others getting Division I looks. Stacy said he and guidance counselor Chuck Utterback have met with sophomores whom they think could be Division I players. NCAA academic requirements will change for sophomores and become harder to meet in two years.
