'07 OH DE Ben Martin (Tennessee signee)

I'd love for us to offer and recruit him hard but I'm a bit more skeptical. LaSalle is a catholic school in a heavily catholic part of the state. With Weis' longterm security and "resurgence", I'm sure Charlie is going to have some appeal with the Greater Catholic League kids as long as ND produces. Last but not least, he has "George B" in his ear too. Yes, that "George".

what motivation would george brown have to disuade a kid from osu? perhaps if osu fawned all over his son a little more he would be bitter about osu's recruitment of him, i mean aaron.

Yes, La Salle is a Catholic school, but....

too many BP posters think that translates into overwhelming support for ND. I taught at La Salle for 17 years and I know there are hundreds of alums who are Buckeye grads and big supporters of tOSU. There is surely an ND influence, though. Some alums and staff members, one of them a fb coach, and the team doctor played fb at ND. They are all great people, but I know very well where their college loyalties lie. I hope that JT and Luke Fickel realize the kinds of competition they may be facing in the recruitment of Ben Martin. Other than an All-American fullback from the mid-70s (Mike Schneider), I think all the La Salle fb players the Bucks have recruited ended up playing elsewhere....

Mike Schneider found his way into Woody's doghouse the first year and eventually transferred to UC. It would a great day for this Buckeye poster if Ben chose to "take the road less traveled" by heading across I 275 and up I 71 from Lancerland to Columbus. Go Lancers! Go Bucks! :oh: :io:

All I see negative is that ND is a leader and he goes to a Catholic school. The positives are we are the other leader and he has been to a bunch of our games. More than ND's for sure.

I don't think I'm breaking a confidence in sharing this, but a good friend on the FB staff at La Salle told me that Ben Martin is "a special player and a special person....and that whoever gets him is getting a gem." There's a family connection to northwest Indiana, which is a boost for ND, but the Bucks are strong contenders too. It's VERY IMPORTANT that the Bucks offer a scholie to Ben before ND does. :oh: :io:

I don't think so, if his decision is based on who offers first, then so be it, but since Coach T has been at tOSU, we usually do not offer Juniors until on or after OSU's Junior Day. I am sure Martin has been told this.
It looks like Martin already has an offer.

A 6-5, 225-pound junior defensive end at a Catholic high school in Ohio, Ben Martin is a player made to sack the quarterback and inflame recruiting battles.

At the top of his list of potential colleges are Ohio State and Notre Dame, and the Cincinnati LaSalle star already has scholarship offers in hand from both schools.
