'07 OH DE Ben Martin (Tennessee signee)

Good point and kudos to StXBuck over at BN: Martin said in OFS that he wants to be a history teacher. You can't even major in education at ND-and OSU's history dept. is top notch.

Very interesting, but you can still major in History at ND. Then you could get certified or take an extra year of classes somewhere else to get your teaching liscenture. Hopefully this would become a factor though.

I think I heard somewhere that they can have education as a second major at ND, and they take their education classes at the all-girls school across the street.

If he means history teacher as opposed to professor, then it sounds like he's more interested in an education major than a history major--which as suggested would work in OSU's favor over ND.

Sometimes true BayBuck... but not always. That's the route I took through school... History major, then teaching certificate through extra classes. It helps you to avoid a lot of the bogus eduacation classes that they make you take (things that common sense and tutoring experience can teach you). I got a job at a high school no problem like that. It can happen.

Hey, no need to tell Martin that!

I'd love for us to offer and recruit him hard but I'm a bit more skeptical. LaSalle is a catholic school in a heavily catholic part of the state. With Weis' longterm security and "resurgence", I'm sure Charlie is going to have some appeal with the Greater Catholic League kids as long as ND produces. Last but not least, he has "George B" in his ear too. Yes, that "George".

Yeah, there are WAY too many factors working against OSU here for them to come out on top, IMO. Catholic HS affiliation, ND's ressurgence, Martin's infatuation with ND, and now George Brown...

OSU will offer and I'm sure they'll give it a try, but I'd be shocked if he didn't sign with Notre Dame.
