'07 NJ OL Anthony Davis (Rutgers signee)

I felt really good about Davis until Grad mentioned Rutgers. With Coker on the hot seat at Miami and USC a world away I thought we had a great shot. In addition to Zutha I recall with in the last year or two a 5 Star DL spurned Miami to stay close to home at Rutgers.

Figuring that ND is a favorite up there too, due to Weis being from Jersey
Not in the 7 years I've been here... and I know fellas that went to high school with Charlie... If anything, that would play much better in northern Jersey where the major Catholic powers like Bergen Catholic and Don Bosco are located...

If I had to guess... I'd be surprised if we weren't very close to the lead... Even Anthony would have to be intrigued walking on Rutgers campus and seeing OSU apparel... My daughter wears OSU gear...

How will USC play in his recruitment? Is that talk about USC just lip service because they're the hot team right now, or is he genuinely interested in possibly moving 2,000 miles away (ala Jerrett) to sunny Cali?

Apparently USC hasn't been recruiting him very hard and there is also some talk that his grades aren't where they need to be.

How does that affect our recruitment? Are USC's standards higher than ours?

Apparently USC is set for the OL in last years class, this one, and looking good in '08. In turn, fans are saying since Davis is borderline on academics, that there is no reason to apply full court press on him being on the other coast.

Piscataway lineman Anthony Davis, the state's undisputed top prospect and the apple of Southern California and Ohio State's eyes, has spent the past two Saturdays on Rutgers' sideline, hovering outside the Scarlet Knights' postgame locker room until it emptied.

While Rutgers has been pretty bad in the past, they are undefeated and ranked in the top 25. If you look at it from his point of view, he could probably come in and play earlier by going to Rutgers and he would still be playing for a pretty good team. Rutgers may not be on the same level as Ohio State, but they aren't the crap team that they used to be.

Yeah, I know but wouldn't you want to play for a highly tauted team like The Ohio State University instead of just Rutgers. I know they are not awful like going to play for Uconn which is completely unknown for their football program not basketball? I understand he thinks he'll get to start earlier at Rutgers but for nfl drafting purposes going to The Ohio State University might earn a couple more looks from scouts for the NFL. I hope he decides we offer him a better chance for the nfl. I know if his talent is there he'll go anyways but it does factor into you're potential if you've played for a big program and are well tested.

This is the first time in 30 years they've been ranked in the top 25... they nearly lost this week. They won't be in the t-25 for long, imo (pitt will beat them).
