'07 IL RB Robert Hughes (Notre Dame signee)

ND Rivals $

2/23

Hughes already has offers from Michigan, Oklahoma State, Virginia, Illinios, and Purdue. He also names Ohio State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USC, Penn State, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Miami as schools he is interested in. Hes thinking about visiting Columbus for Junior Day this weekend. His decision will be based on where he feels most comfortable, and he also mentions that competition wont be a factor.

Thought it was funny how he said he got to talk to his recruiting coordinator Dick Tressel and his brother Jim. Anyways, the best part of the article was the fact that it wasn't done by an OSU reporter. I like our chanes with Robert.

While we have Olson to be a blocking FB, Hughes may make a nice dual threat at the position. I am going to assume that if we bring in 1 or 2... both redshirt to gain some seperation between the current guys at the position. Wells2x, Pittman and Haw should be sufficient, unless those that come in are able to overtake them. I would be ecstatic if we bring in Saine and Hughes.

Saine and Hughes would be awesome. Williams would also be great, but right now he doesnt have grades.

I think a redshirt year for Hughes would be in the cards and that would give him time to work with Butch and he could be a bruiser to come in to go with Saine or he could bulk up to be a dominating fullback.

I love this kid...he is tough but also showed better speed than I expected (especially catching the ball out of the backfield). Not sure when those clips are from because I don't know if he quite looks 6'0" but he is a good looking RB either way. With these small groups the staff are doing you have to think that they think enough of Robert for him to get an offer soon. I hope he will be getting one with the next round that goes out.

It's interesting how the small groups are working out this year. The staff is obviously being even more selective this year than in years past, and the small groups I believe really reflects this. Unfortunately, due to our small class size, there is going to be a lot of leftover talent in Ohio this year.
