'07 IL RB Robert Hughes (Notre Dame signee)

Scout $

2/7

Much of the same as the article above. Robert was at Iowa's Jr. day and didn't receive an offer. He is looking forward to seeing tOSU this weekend and what they have to offer. His favorites are Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, tOSU, Illinois, Purdue, and Iowa.

2/9/06

Hughes will attend Viriginia's spring game. Hughes says Virginia is high on his list. Former teammate plays for Virginia. Virginia, Oklahoma State, Illinois, Purdue and Michigan have now offered. Notre Dame, Ohio State, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas State, Florida and Miami have been in contact. Was scheduled to visit tOSU this weekend but JT asked him to move the visit to 25 Feb. Most likely will take all five official visits before making a decision.

Rivals $ (BSB)

2/16

Mike Wachsman interviews Hughes about his upcoming visit to tOSU. Says he has always liked tOSU and how they play their freshman backs. He is in touch with Dick Tressel (his recruiter) on a regular basis, and is very impressed by him. Robert has offers from scUM, Purdue, Virginia, Oklahoma St., and Illinois.

Between Hughes, Martin and Clay (three backs that are slightly similar and all from the Midwest) I am really starting to like Hughes the most. He seems to be the best combination on-the-field and off-the-field.

Not going to happen, but a RB class of Hughes and Saine would be great! Who is the better prospect at this point? It seems Hughes might be a little bigger, but Saine in faster.

The fact that Saine has an offer already should be an answer to what the staff thinks. I only see one RB coming on board, but would love to take two. Hughes would probably be considered the better prospect right now because of his offer list and the fact that he is on Rivals' early top 100 list.
Personally, I like Saine better, but it's only because of what we already have. I think with Beanie on board, you have the thunder, so you go get some lightning.

Yeah but if a stud wants to come here, there is no way we are turning him down. I am not sure about next year in terms of rb recruits, but there seem to be a ton this year that we have a good shot at.

Ashley is a stud, but he is in the '08 class. I think we could see 2 RBs in this class, depending on transfers/juniors leaving early/etc. Depends on how many schollies we have to give...
