'07 FL WR Deonte Thompson (Florida signee)

Florida will have more young WR's than OSU is the point and we will have the advantage here for sure. Also with family here in Dukes, worked out with Santonio(who is pushing OSU hard for him), and his coach being pro-OSU as well, I think we have a great shot at Thompson. Much has been speculated but HH thinks our chances to not be too bad at this point last time I checked.

This kid may want to stay home and go to florida, but having the family ties with Dukes with surely help us, i hope dukes talks to him and lets him know that ohio state is proven to develop NFL Wrs, David Boston, Terry Glenn, Joey Galloway, Cris Carter, Micheal Jenkins, and the recent santonio holmes

I understand your thinking, but try to remember that sometimes with a kid's season and OSU's schedule, sometimes bringing a prospect in after the season is the only way.

Plus, laguna mentioned that the staff prefers to bring kids to tOSU for games on unofficials and bring the kids to the campus after the season for official visits. It gives the staff more 1-1 time, and the SA get to see what campus life and the academic side of things is like a lot better. It worked out pretty well for us this past weekend, too.

Saw Thompson play in the state playoffs for Belle Glades..all I can say is wow..simply the best player on the field..He said he grew up a Gator fan and a lot of the big florida people here say it is going to be a battle between OSU and UF with Miami maybe coming in the back door...Thompson has also said WR depth chart is big and we all know UF is stacked even if Nate B. transfers..

From Free Florida Site (forum)

Florida Fans and their sources think Thomson dropped FLA due to their stellar WR class this year!!! Lets hope its true

One of the Top 2 Wr's in the country for 2007 is a said to be shying away from Florida! Deonte Thompson 6'0 190lbs 4.28 from Belle Glade, Florida have been paying close attention to the Gator's 2006 class and with the addition of Percy Harvin, the Gators is beginning to be a after-thought. He currently list:

1. Miami - Needs a Big-Time WR and the Canes is his parent's Favorite team!
2. Ohio State - Cousin is OSU Wr Albert Dukes and the success of Santonio Holmes
3. Florida State - Attended FSU Bowl practice last month and with Rouse dimissal, the noles need a deep threat
4. Notre Dame - Also need a deep threat and can play right away
5. Florida - Gators have a history of success in the Glades

We need at least 2 great WRs in next years class. Hopefully he can change his mind.
