'07 FL WR Deonte Thompson (Florida signee)

Early playing time is a big issue for him and at Ohio State the position is loaded, so we shall see.

By loaded you mean potentially loaded. By the time he would get here Ginn and Gonzo would both be seniors and Ginn could leave early. Hall will be gone by next year. Chichester and Small will probably be our WR's this year and then Dukes will be a junior. You also have Robiskie and Hartline. While Robiskie, Hartline, Chichester, Dukes, and Small all look to have a good future, there are no promises. If Thompson chooses OSU, he could come in and earn some time, if as good as advertised. Then you look at Florida and the number of promising freshman coming in, it's really not comparable. They have Riley Cooper, Jarred Fayson, Percy Harvin, Damon McDaniel, Damon Williams, and Justin Williams. All 6 should play WR. Hornsby will probably play D, but might end up at WR too. In 05 they signed Nyan Boentang, Louis Murphy, and David Nelson. In all reality, we probably have Chichester and Small coming in. In terms of immediate playing time, I would say we look a lot better than Florida in regards to immediate playing time.

I hope History repeats itself

The last few years we have missed out on some great talent only to get some the next year. We missed out on McGlover and got L. Wilson, D. Worthington, and R. Williams. Last year we missed on Gwaltney and McCoy only to get C. Wells and R. Homan. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have Ausberry in this class, But if losing him means we can get Thompson I will be o.k. with that. Right now we have some good depth at Wr. So I don't think the need to get a great reciever is as large this year as it may be next year.

This is my first post, and would like to say that I have visited this site for quite awhile and have enjoyed all of your insights. GO BUCKS!

He noted two things of interest in that article-

1. He said Deonte wants to be the top receiver in the nation next year. And that he has the tools to be the best ever from Glades HS.

2. They mentioned that Notre Dame hadn't been to his highschool to visit him, yet most other schools in the Midwest have (including osu).

I'd say we're in good shape. Our biggest worry will probably be Miami due to how close they are, and what their depth chart looks like.

Miami's depth chart may look better, but UF has all the momentum down there right now. Deonte is rumored to really like Florida, so it may be tough to pull him out of the South. Belle Glades has sent two good WR's to tOSU, one of course being Deonte's cousin, which will help. HH has said that our staff has done a tremendous job in the South this year, so that is laying some groundwork I'm sure. I say put Coach Hazell on Deonte, and don't let him take no for an answer... :)

Yeah I really hope Hazell is all over him, heck they can send Haynes and Beckman if they want too. I think the fact that 2 former recievers from the school came up here is really going to help us.
