I'm sure several of you are chomping at the bit to say "so that's the big surprise?"...but keep in mind 22 told you that it was nothing more than lip service, and that turned out to be true.

i would like to be first with the common response that "tressel wouldn't want anyway the type of player that provides lip service."wadc45;743519; said:I'm sure several of you are chomping at the bit to say "so that's the big surprise?"...but keep in mind 22 told you that it was nothing more than lip service, and that turned out to be true.

Deonte Thompson, Florida, WR
The Gators need a wideout who can take the pressure off Percy Harvin and fill the big-play void created by Andre Caldwell's departure. This former four-star prospect could emerge as the best candidate.
Deonte Thompson knows it?s time to step up
By Ben Volin | Wednesday, April 1, 2009
Deonte Thompson came to Gainesville from Belle Glade two years ago as a much-heralded five-star recruit, choosing the Gators over Ohio State and USC among other schools, but his Florida career has been anything but smooth.
The red shirt his freshman year. The rumors he would transfer to Miami. A sophomore year stuck on the depth chart behind Percy Harvin, Louis Murphy, David Nelson and Riley Cooper.
Now it?s Year Three for Thompson. Harvin and Murphy are gone, while Cooper is playing baseball. The Gators need Thompson to step up, and he knows it.
?I knew this time was coming,? he said last week at practice. ?All that controversy I had is in the past. It?s my time to step it up and take over.?
