'07 FL S Major Wright (Florida signee)

I see the loss actually aiding our cause in regards to playing time and depth. Major might be thinking hey with my speed I can see the field fast. Any recruit watching that game has to feel that they can step on the field faster that maybe we dont' have the depth everyone said we did. Whether its true or not is not important.

Anyone watching last night's game and thinks our recruiting chances may increase as a result of watching is the eternal optimist.

If anything it helps our cause... We can now sell early PT in the secondary and on the OL...
Recruits rarely are influenced by the results of a game...

Bingo... if recruits chose on results of games, Clausen would've decommitted from ND at least twice, and Will Korn would've decommitted from Clemson after losing to Kentucky. Those were just two examples off the top of my head. Everyone needs to relax on Major. He's a great prospect I'd love to have and i think he'll be a great player, but we have solid depth at safety for next year at least.

It has nothing to do with optimism. Its about needs. We appear to have needs. Major Wright could feel those needs. Its as simple as that. If the coaching staff plays there cards right we could get into the players heads that your talents are needed here. Just my opinion.

Sorry. It seems we've gotten of Major and on to recruiting in general.

Thank you for that incredibly brilliant and insightful post. I can tell that you have been following recruiting for many years and have it down to a science.:roll1:

Had we simply lost this game, and not been humiliated, I would agree. But the nature of this loss will, I believe, have very negative effects on this year's recruiting class.

Yep. Devastating big-game losses appear to have had the same effect on Notre Dame's recruiting the last couple of years...

Florida's class is pretty full so I wouldn't expect to lose all 3 Florida guys we're recruiting.
And you have to take in consideration what Florida thinks they're priorities are also.
"Don't panic!"

Ditto for Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas safety Major Wright, being recruited by both the Gators and Ohio State, among others.
"Any team is capable of having a bad game or a great game," Wright said. "I wouldn't let one game make my decision. What matters to me are things like graduation rates, great environment, great coaching staff, somewhere I'm comfortable."

Major Wright returned from San Antonio hungry. The St. Thomas Aquinas safety competed last Saturday in the annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl. He enjoyed his visit to Texas but was happy to get away from the food.
''I don't like Mexican food,'' said Wright, who played both safety positions during the game.
Wright is taking an official visit to Florida this weekend and visiting Notre Dame next weekend. He said Tuesday night that he will not be taking a trip to Southern California. The blue-chip recruit has already visited Ohio State.
