'07 FL S Major Wright (Florida signee)

If UF is a 9, thats a hard number to beat. Good to hear OSU is still in front despite his good rating for UF.

Good number, but hardly a good indicator of where he is leaning. Keep in mind Major was quoted as saying something to the effect that he did not want to go home when his official at OSU came to an end. I also defer to the tried and true Duane Long recruiting theory that if a recruit leaves his official visit and does not have that school as his favorite, that is not a good sign for the school that he just visited. By that logic, I would not feel good about my chances with Wright if I was a UF fan. All that being said, I would reiterate the fact that between Coach Shannon turning up the heat on Major and his teammate Leonard Hankerson being committed there, that Miami official looms large.

See this is what I don't understand with recruits. We can narrow it down and say that Wright is deciding between Miami and tOSU. Where was tOSU on January 8th? In the National Championship. And OSU has somewhat high expectations for next year. Where was Miami on January 8th? Sitting on their couches watching the game. Who is coaching OSU? Jim Tressel who is going into his 7th year coaching. Who is coaching Miami? Their ex-defensive coordinator after Larry Coker just got fired. Isnt it a simple decision?

I wish it were only that simple.

The first rule of thumb with recruiting today is that normal is that there is no normal.

I know alot more factors go into it than that but when it comes to just football, OSU is the way to go.

First off, I don't know why you are stressing this much considering Major stated that OSU is still his leader. Despite that, Miami is a program that has recruited St. Thomas Aquinas heavily in the past. Major is from the state of Florida. Coach Shannon can offer early playing time and can sell Major on the idea that he can help rebuild the program. He already has a teammate committed to Miami. There are a lot of positives for Miami with Major and I for one could not fault him if he selected the 'Canes. Having said that, I still think OSU has the best shot at this point of landing him.
