'07 FL RB Noel Devine (West Virginia signee)

I've been having an email conversation with a buddy who has been following this situation relatively closely. Devine's chances for qualifying haven't really improved in his mind.

He also claims there are lots of things going on behind the scenes on this one: Deion wants him to go to FSU badly, but foster parents want him to make his own decision, and others at the high school want him to stay in Florida.

Tough situation with a lot of baggage...

Someone who claims to be a friend of Devine's just posted this on another board.....

i jus got off the phone wit him and he signed because of the deadline but most likely will be attending harmony prep in ohio, instead of hargrave now... ACT still pending but from what he told me and what deion said he'll prolly go to prep and then do the recruiting process again...

They're just giddy in Morgantown. It's not about the national championship-caliber team returning this fall at West Virginia, or that the Mountaineers never have been more significant in college football.

It's about, of all things, a 19-year-old kid.
Noel Devine, a megarecruit, has scored high enough on the ACT to be eligible and is on course to play tailback for the Mountaineers in September. Fans are flipping, message boards are buzzing, and even coach Rich Rodriguez is fueling the masses with subtle hints of what could be for his biggest recruit ever.
Meanwhile, Jason Gwaltney trudged through classes in Morgantown this spring, trying to regain his academic eligibility, and seemingly is a lifetime away from his days as the biggest recruit ever.

That article is kind of harsh, he's almost calling Devine a bust already when he asks which three unkowns will replace Devine a couple of years from now. At least give the kid a chance to step onto campus before you predict his doom, lol. Some of those 5-star, can't miss HS prospects turn into damn good Div 1 football players. Look at what Adrian Peterson or Ted Ginn Jr. did in their freshman years, just off the top of my head. I'm not saying Devine will dominate the Big Least but it's a bit premature to compare him to guys who had a shot and didn't pan out.

Devine intervention

Talented RB has traveled difficult road to West Virginia
If it were only about football, Noel Devine would be a household name. Like the cult of nearly 175,000 viewers who have made him a YouTube sensation, you would stare in disbelief at this video as he rips off run after run, unleashing an uncanny elusiveness and speed, and you'd swear those highlights just had to be doctored.

If it were only about football, all that would matter is that the five-star prospect is eligible and is already in Morgantown, W.Va., taking theater and sports management classes and preparing to become another weapon for an already explosive West Virginia offense led by Heisman Trophy candidates Steve Slaton and Pat White.

If it were only about football... But with Devine, it always extends well beyond the 100-yard field. It extends well beyond the 6,894 yards and 92 touchdowns the running back amassed at North Fort Myers (Fla.) High -- and he has come to accept that.

DAMN.... First time I saw that video... First there is a ton of mis-tackling...ahahah... But damn... I know there is a lot of issues with his recruitment but WVU will do everything in their power to keep him eligible. Can you imagine him, Slaton, and White in the back-field... damn there is a ton of speed there....
